Job description

Job Summary:

The Windows Server Engineers are responsible for maintaining the Windows Server load set and toolset, defining the OS standards, developing new services and consumable products, and maintaining core components of the infrastructure such as licensing and activation services. They are also responsible for the on-boarding and enablement of new public and private cloud environments where our products and services are provided.

Automation is a key aspect of their role; the provisioning and operation of these products and services is automated by the Windows Engineers. This includes but is not limited to: Server Deployment process, Software Packaging for automated deployment, automated response to monitored events, automation of operational activities, creation of templates and blueprints for complex deployments. 

As part of their role the Windows Server Engineer will also act as lead engineer on global projects, reporting directly to project manager or functional lead. In this capability he/she will be responsible for translating detailed requirements in solution designs and lead on their implementation. This may involve in some cases leading small task forces and in most cases coordinating efforts with other engineers from different areas.

For this role is imperative to demonstrate strong personal leadership, be creative, proactive, self-leaner, a team player, and have a strong focus on business outcomes

 

Essential Functions of the Job:

·  Develop and maintain the SCCM OSD based Golden Images for Windows Servers:
·  SCCM OSD Task Sequences, Boot Images, OS Images, Driver packages, SCCM collections WQL queries and collection variables
·  Magagement Agents installation packages
·  VM templates
·  Configuration Management scripts (PowerShell and VBS) and MDT
·  Integrate the Golden Images with Server Provisioning processes and systems
·  Development of Software Packages (based on PowerShell code) for use in SCCM Task Sequences and deployment to Windows Servers
·  Development of PowerShell, PowerShell DSC, VBS, WMI and CIM scripts for Configuratiion Management and processes automation
·  Onboarding and Readiness of new version of the Windows Server Operating System
·  Onboarding of new technologies and Evaluation/certification of Windows Serverthird party management agents and management software
·  Consulting and providing technical advice for major projects and solution Design based on their business requirements
·  Ad-hoc high visibility assignments commonly requiring automation and Windows Server plattform skillsm, and reporting from different sources (WQL and SQL language) like Active Directory, DB, etc.

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

·  Operate with independence based on objectives defined by leaders and with reduced supervision
·  Demonstrate sound judgment and being able to prioritize assignments.
·  Define the Windows Server Platform standards, best practices and lifecycle

Knowledge and Skills Requirements :

·  Excellent understanding of compute, network, storage and virtualization and Cloud Computing concepts [Required].
·  Advance knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server versions 2019  down to 2008 R2 [Required]
·  Programing background or equivalent knowledge of structured programming and object-oriented programming for scripting [Required]
·  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and SCCM OS Deployment (OSD) [Requiered]
·  Advanced scripting with PowerShell, PowerShell DSC, VBS and WMI/CIM [Required].
·  Ability to write technical documentation and procedures [Required]
·  Experience/
·  Experience with Visual Studio Code  or IDE and Source Code managementtools ( Git repos, Azure DevOps Repos, TFS repos, etc) [Desired].
·  Experience working with Agile/SCRUM Development process and understanding of DevOps [Desired].
·  Good understanding VMware vSphere infrastructure [Desired]
·  Good knowledge of server hardware, preferably Dell PowerEdge [Desired]
·  Very Strong Problem Solving and Analytical skills [Required]
·  Ability to work in a virtual team with an inclusive mindset and midful of cultural differences [Required]
·  Ability communicate effectively with management, clients, and collegues [Required]
·  Ability to deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations and work under pressure in situiations such as restoring services [Required]

Education:

A degree in Computer Science/Management or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

·  5+ years of experience Managing Windows Server Enterprise environments with at least 2 as an engineer [Required]
·  3+ years of experience scripting and automating activities [Required]
·  3+ years of experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) [Required]
·  2+ years of experience with either SCCM OSD or Windows Deployment Services [Required]
·  1+ years of experience working in Agile teams (preferably SCRUM) [Desired]

Experience:
