EY Business Consulting – Supply Chain Domain – Healthcare - Senior Consultant
Our objective is to help the clients to optimize operations, drive cost savings and improve the performance of their Supply Chain & Operations (SC&O). With expertise in leading healthcare SC&O frameworks, you will help clients to improve reliability, efficiency and responsiveness of their supply chain whilst reducing the total cost. Typical role representation would include performance improvement / management, redesigning / reengineering healthcare supply chain processes, performing process assessments and reviews, benchmarking and coming up with thought leadership.
The opportunity
We’re looking for smart and agile Senior Consultant with expertise in Healthcare - Supply chain to join the group of our Business Consulting Team to work with healthcare clients and project teams.
Your key responsibilities
As a Senior consultant, you will be part of a team of professionals with extensive Supply Chain consulting and industry experience. Drawing on your knowledge and experience, you will create innovative insights for healthcare clients, suggest methods and practices to optimise their supply chain, improve operations and create new sources of value. This role requires someone who is extremely analytical, has a foundation in data manipulation, and is knowledgeable and familiar with hospitals / healthcare systems.
As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create a positive learning culture, coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop. An important part of your role will be to actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships. Travel may be required when safe to do so or for critical business needs.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Work closely with business stakeholders on Supply Chain assignments related to healthcare performance improvement and operational experience – transformation/ optimization/re-engineering, etc. and translate the client needs and priorities to sustainable solutions
• Effectively partner with the project teams and effectively manage and remit the assigned scope of work
• Ensure consistency in delivering high quality work products exceeding the client expectations and meeting delivery timelines
• Build, maintain and strengthen working relationships with business stakeholders at appropriate levels and clients.
• Continually enhance your technical and consulting skills on healthcare supply chain, there by contributing to the development of your own and team's technical acumen
• Liaise with internal teams and field of play teams to help identify opportunities on healthcare supply chain and actively contribute to business development activities.
• Develop and groom team members for succession planning, as needed
Skills and attributes for success
• Good understanding of end-to-end supply chain process in healthcare industry, within hospitals, primary health centre, etc.
• Knowledge of healthcare products like medical items, surgical items, physician preference items, etc.
• Knowledge of quality assurance disciplines and international regulatory requirements related to health commodities.
• Knowledge of goods distribution practices, warehousing, and logistics as pertains to health commodities.
• Knowledge of efficient sourcing strategies and methods to decrease expenditures in the healthcare environment
• Ability to identify cost optimization opportunities related to operations and Procurement of goods & services
• Knowledge of inventory management, physical inventory count and replenishment including but not limited to reorder points, min/max stock levels
• Good understanding of material valuation methods including FEFO, standards and general financial transactions
• Competent in research, analysing problems and recommending creative solutions
• Participation in healthcare supply chain transformation projects, digitalization of SC&O will be good for the role
• Good interpersonal skills with ability to build rapport with all stakeholders
• Ability to present ideas and solutions in a clear and concise manner
• Self-motivated with a lot of energy and drive
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
To qualify for the role, you must have
• 6-8 years of work experience working with healthcare supply chains. Consulting experience would be an added advantage (5+ years of core experience, 3+ years of consulting experience)
• Bachelor/higher degrees in operations, nursing, clinical psychology, speech therapy, pharmacy, hospital administration, supply chain
• Consulting experience in healthcare supply chain on performance improvement, operational efficiency improvement, process transformation, re-engineering and optimization, policies and procedures, process mapping, MIS
• Experience/capability on healthcare supply chain verticals in Sourcing, Purchasing, Contracting, Logistics / Distribution, Inventory management, etc.
• Strong experience/capability in analytics (value analysis, spend analytics, benchmarking)
• Addon experience in Accounts payable, Accounts receivable, Financial analysis
• Strong in Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Aris, Power Bi, Tableau, etc.
• Hands-on experience in ERP Systems
• Willing to work on Sunday to Thursday working week and support MENA timings (11AM – 8.30 PM), as preferred (supporting Middle East Clients)
Ideally, you’ll also have
• Project management skills
• Customer handling, Report writing, Strong interpersonal communication skills and experience in usage of analytical tools/ representations
• Certification in ISO, Lean, Six sigma, TQM, KAIZEN will be an added/preferred advantage
