Risk Management - Lobbying and Political Compliance (LPC) Senior Associate
As Risk Management Senior Associate, you'll contribute to one or more Risk Management process(es). To achieve this, you'll develop knowledge in this process and related areas. The process helps identify and mitigate risk in client and vendor relationships. You'll be involved in one or more Risk Management Process teams such as the Ethics and Compliance team and liaise between the client teams and Risk Management.
In this role, you'll use your subject matter knowledge to assist your team in advising professionals across a range of service lines, industry sectors and geographic Areas. This will involve dealing with complex issues within the process(es). You'll also recommend modifications and enhancements, and help the process(es) continue to support firm priorities and needs. You'll work with executive-level personnel, train and mentor team members, and achieve effective day-to-day operation of the process team.
You'll provide research and analysis across the topics relevant to Lobbying and Political Compliance or other Risk Management teams. To achieve this, you'll interpret policies and processes, determine required actions, and make recommendations based on firm guidance and your own experience. In addition, you'll analyze issues, and document the diligence with which tasks are performed, to help meet the demands of external regulators.
You'll work independently, with periodic feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
· Support the firm’s lobbyist registration and reporting program, by determining filing requirements and assisting in the completion of required Firm Federal, state and local filings.
· Assist with responses to consultations from Service Lines and other business units related to Lobbying and Political Compliance.
· Support the operation of compliance monitoring processes to identify potential compliance issues related to Lobbying and Political Compliance.
· Collaborate with team members in developing training, communications, processes and controls to help the business efficiently operate whilst remaining compliance with relevant regulations.
· Assist with monitoring of business compliance with policy requirements.
· Recommend ways to improve process(es), and/or develop new approaches, calling on your Risk Management and business experience.
· Support the resolutions of conflicts on complex or –novel issues related to Lobbying and Political Compliance or other Risk Management processes. This will involve utilizing technical, service line or core infrastructure knowledge.
· Assist with the establishment and implementation of project plans, including goals and measures.
· Keep documentation and information on process(es) up-to-date.
· Liaise between clients and members (including leaders) of Risk Management and various other functional areas within the firm (e.g., Government Contracting, the Office of Public Policy, Finance, IT, Compliance Program Monitoring Center of Excellence).
· Gain an understanding of the key requirements of firm policies and regulators' rules. Gain knowledge of Risk Management outside of your own area.
· Develop relationships, and build a network of people across the firm
· Gain a solid understanding of relevant parts of the EY business.
To qualify, candidates must have:
· Basic knowledge of project management tools and methodologies
· Good problem solving skills
· Flexibility to adapt to different working situations
· Adept at keeping sensitive information confidential
· Strong research and communications skills
· Good working knowledge of computers and common software packages, including analytical tools
· 3-5 plus years of related experience
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Ideally, you’ll have
· The ability to learn and understand the firm and regulators’ independence rules and policies as well as familiarity with other quality & risk management initiatives outside your area of expertise.
· Ability to manage tasks and activities in a timely manner and be responsible for specific outcomes.
