The opportunity

The Global Business Immigration Services Group (GBIS) provides and manages a range of business immigration services to multinational clients who send employees, and their families, to work and live in over 140 countries around the world. These services typically centre on the compliance and legal issues in coordinating and filing their work and visa applications, subsequent work permit/visa extensions and passport/nationality issues.  Within the GBIS group there are 3 service offerings - Global Coordination Service, Consular Support Services, Business Traveller Assessment Service.

The role of Global Immigration Paralegal, involves day-to-day support to the senior level and management team in all aspects of global immigration relating to corporate client accounts. The activities will fall under the supervision of the Senior Paralegal or Manager and can range from gathering and inputting data, creating files and status report, drafting visa applications and other documentation to liaising with clients and Government departments.
The Global Immigration Paralegal will be required to have a basic understanding of immigration processes but will not be required to have any prior immigration experience.

Your key responsibilities

General:

·  Communicating with HR representatives of corporate clients to obtain information, to provide updates etc 
·  Communicating with employees to obtain information, to provide updates etc 
·  Initial review of foreign office invoicing for accuracy 
·  Ensuring that senior and/or management is advise of client issues when they arise 
·  May be required to attend seminars and professional development courses that are relevant to area of speciality 
·  Owning any ad hoc projects or pulling together spreadsheets of information as required by senior and/or management

 

Global Coordination:

·  Providing responses to client queries 
·  Creating stats records on EY Technology and updating spreadsheets 
·  Once cases have been completed ensure the stats records and or management reporting spreadsheets are updated accordingly 
·  Notify client of upcoming extension 
·  Learning basis immigration processing categories and requirement for a variety of foreign jurisdictions 
·  Liaising with immigration professionals in international jurisdiction to ensure smooth processing of immigration cases  

 

Consular Support:

·  Basic research of current processing requirements at consulates and relevant foreign government immigration authorities.  

 

Business Travel Assessment:

·  Assessing business traveller information against business travel rules

 

Team Working:

·  Delegate appropriate work to local country immigration professional  
·  Participate actively in global immigration team meetings 
·  Drafting visa applications and supporting documentation 
·  Assisting with senior coordinator caseload as required in their absence
