The opportunity
We are currently seeking an associate lawyer to manage multiple and challenging Canadian business immigration engagements and to contribute to the delivery of solutions and ideas for our diverse clients. The business immigration specialists at EY LLP work closely with members of EY's Human Capital group, to help companies address the challenges associated with managing today's globally mobile workforce. Skills and attributes for success
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of Canadian business immigration law and effectively apply this knowledge to client situations.
• Prepare and submit applications for Canadian employment authorizations, permanent residence, citizenship and passport matters.
• Make submissions to embassies, consulates and visa posts worldwide.
• Facilitate the legal movement of employees across borders for business travel.
• Deal with immigration-related issues ranging from expatriate and international corporate taxation to social security, provincial health insurance and immigrant trusts.
• Manage law clerks and other client service team members.
To qualify for the role you must have
• Law degree along with a Canadian call to the bar
• Two to four years of post-call business immigration experience.
• Broad exposure to Canadian immigration law.
• Excellent managerial, organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
Ideally, you’ll also have
• The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment
• Sound professional judgement and high level of professionalism
