The opportunity
The EY Malta Assurance Department specialises in delivering high quality and efficient audit and advisory services to a portfolio of clients, understanding the enterprise-wide view of business risk and how this risk can be effectively managed. We use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to evaluate business processes and controls, and advanced technology in knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities
· Assist in the technical delivery and reporting for projects;
· Assist in the dialogue with clients and help to manage expectations of delivery, content, timescales and cost;
· Present, or assist senior management to present, to clients at senior executive and board levels;
· Assist in responding to client proposals and RFPs;
· Contribute to projects as a subject matter specialist;
· Work closely with colleagues to create a positive learning culture and mentor junior team members and help them to develop;
· Collaborate with colleagues within the EMEIA Actuarial practice to deliver multi-disciplinary and cross-geographical work.

· Strong technical / mathematical skills;
· Good communication and project management skills;
· Very keen attention to detail;
· Good people skills, including ability to work effectively in teams, guiding more junior members of staff and influencing senior team members;
· Able to work independently and to demonstrate initiatives and commitment to assigned projects.
Qualifications and Experience
· A degree and Fellowship from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or other internationally recognized professional actuarial association. Candidates with a degree and partial qualification (IFOA Associate) from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries will also be considered;
· Successful track record in general/non-life insurance, gained through working for a top tier consultancy or a specialist financial services consultancy;
Desirable skills
· Independent reserve reviews under different accounting bases for Property and Casualty classes of business;
· Links between reserve assessment, pricing, claims and underwriting;
· Development or review of Solvency II technical provisions and associated processes including SII risk modules;
· Development of risk management frameworks under Solvency II;
· Implementation projects of IFRS 17.
