Business Purpose / Background
EY’s move to a “Cloud-First” strategy has quickly led to a massive shift of application development and hosting to the major public clouds.  With this shift has come the challenge to operate and secure these environments, with efforts often being in “catch up” or reactive mode.  To address this, EY is building a world-class cloud operations team and is seeking to staff up rapidly with both internal and contract-to-hire resources.  While the roles needed are focused on a specific area (e.g. DBA, Network, etc.), resources are expected to be able to flex into different areas when needed.

Role Description Summary:  Cloud SME (GCP)
This position is for a Cloud SME to serve as an extension of the Cloud COE within the Cloud Ops team, specializing in a targeted cloud environment (AWS, Azure or GCP).  Cloud SMEs possess deep mastery of their targeted cloud and are experts for their platform.  Cloud SMEs direct their targeted cloud teams to resolve the most complex problems, define remediation plans, and direct putting in place the needed process steps/automation to avoid the same problems in the future.  Cloud SMEs support system development and administration as part of continuous deployment, continuous integration, and infrastructure automation.  Cloud SMEs work in partnership with our Cloud COE to define best practices and standards for their primary cloud platform.  Cloud Platform Managers ensure the optimization of their target cloud platform (GCP in this case) and identify new capabilities and services that will benefit the enterprise. 

Responsibilities:  
·  Direct Platform Managers to and participate in advanced troubleshooting in targeted cloud environment (AWS, Azure or GCP), resolution and problem analysis, utilizing infrastructure, network and application-level monitoring and logging capabilities
·  Direct Operations and Automation Engineers to and participate in simplifying, modifying, automating and improving targeted cloud processes to streamline support
·  Serve as extension of Cloud COE, defining targeted cloud standards and best practices
·  Ensure robust security compliance and optimization of capacity/cost optimization for targeted cloud environment, partnering with the Security Tiger Team and Cloud Ops
·  Maintain in-depth mastery of targeted cloud platform via continual study, training, conferences and certification.
·  Approve new technologies and development of new services in partnership with Cloud COE
·  Ensure disaster recovery procedures and processes are in place for targeted cloud.

Job Qualifications/Experience:
·  Deep knowledge of targeted cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP), requiring certifications at the architect, solutions associate, expert, platform and infrastructure, and/or developer level.
·  Experience managing platform or product teams, setting priorities, defining projects, managing others and delivering results.
·  Targeted cloud solution architecture, design and implementation experience
·  Deep experience with targeted cloud environment (AWS, Azure or GCP), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and other native capabilities.
·  Hands-on experience architecting, designing, implementing, and supporting targeted cloud-based applications and solutions.
·  Hands-on experience in all aspects of targeted cloud computing (compute, CI/CD, containers, storage, platforms, data, networking and security)
·  Knowledge in cloud monitoring tools, application performance monitoring tools, operational dash-boarding is required.
·  Knowledge in networking and web standards such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, web security, switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls is desired.

Desirable Skills:
·  Targeted cloud solution architecture, design and implementation experience
·  Windows/Linux Server Operating Systems implementation and administration
·  Monitoring and alerting tools, both cloud-native, third-party and custom (CMP)
·  Cloud-based databases, e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL (or equivalent) DBA technologies
·  Targeted cloud-based backup/recovery strategies and solutions
·  ITIL foundations knowledge or IT operations background

·  Excellent verbal and oral communication skills (English) with both technical and non-technical colleagues from geographically distributed teams on all organizational levels.
