Position Description

Wireless Access Networks is a unit at Ericsson Research with the mission to develop world-leading algorithms, protocols and architecture solutions for current and future wireless access networks and mobile systems which will make the visions of the Networked Society and the Internet of Things (IoT) turn into reality. As a researcher you will participate in advanced research project teams developing new concepts and technologies for 5G and LTE evolution radio networks and/or short range radio networks. You will invent new features and evaluate their performance for different scenarios using state-of-the-art radio network system simulators and test-beds. You may participate in international standardization in, for example, 3GPP or IEEE, in the development of solutions targeting competitive Ericsson radio access products, and/or in long-term research projects in collaboration with universities and industry partners. You will be joining a team of highly experienced researchers and standardization experts. We offer you a place in which you are in a unique position to shape the future of wireless communication.

Qualifications

·  Master’s or PhD degree in Wireless Communications, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, or similar technical field; newly graduated or with some work experience.
·  Strong analytical skills, eagerness to find innovative solutions to complex problems.
·  Sound understanding of digital and wireless communications and cellular systems design.
·  Very good communication skills in written and spoken English, German skills are a plus.
·  Very good programming skills in e.g. Matlab, C++, Java.
·  Taking initiatives and strong personal drive.
·  Like to work in an environment where you cooperate closely in a diverse team of colleagues, together striving to fulfil common targets.
·  Experience of standardization work and/or wireless network system simulations are qualifying merits.

The position is based in Herzogenrath close to Aachen, Germany.
