Job Purpose
To provide support to the Content Discovery Picture Desk in meeting the image requirements of our clients’ advanced broadcast TV and online platforms that display images against programme information. You will be responsible for researching, sourcing and archiving images, within copyright regulations, as well manipulating images within Photoshop and adding metadata. You will help maintain the digital image archive by cataloguing and uploading images onto an internal database for effective delivery.
Reporting Lines and Key Relationships
This role reports to a Production Manager within the Editorial Content Discovery Operation.
Key Accountabilities
· To assist the Content Discovery Picture Desk team with researching and sourcing images for all relevant programmes presented on our clients’ platforms.
· To assess images for suitability and accuracy.
· To manipulate images in Photoshop for size, shape and quality.
· To alert the Picture Desk Production Manager to any difficulties or inconsistencies which may arise from such research and to suggest ideas for possible alternatives.
· To act as a point of contact for all enquiries related to the sourcing of images and to undertake the maintenance of all records and systems relating to image collation.
· To have a working knowledge of databases that researchers’ use on a daily basis.
· To be have an understanding of international copyright regulations and to know when to seek further advice or clarification on any rights issue.
· To have an awareness and an understanding of how to use press and publicity image sites and picture libraries.
· To build and maintain contact lists and to be proactive in contacting clients and suppliers
· To maintain accurate records relating to the image requirements and programming of a wide range of UK and European channels.
· To deal appropriately with general enquiries in relation to the Picture Desk’s activities.
· To have a good understanding of metadata and use of images within electronic programme guides, both for broadcast and online.
· To be involved in testing ongoing software developments
· Experience of handling confidential information with tact and sensitivity.
· The ability to deal with organisations, such as production companies, distributors and broadcasters, with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
· To participate fully in all appraisal, training and development, communication, processes in line with the standards and frameworks laid down by EBMS.
· To be aware of and operate within the relevant EBMS policies e.g. fair selection, IT security, and fair trading.

Person Specification
Experience & Knowledge
· Demonstrable experience, including picture research, image manipulation and maintaining databases.
· Knowledge of the different types of digital image formats.
· An awareness of and interest in the work of EBMS and the Broadcast Industry.
· Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
· Good IT and keyboard skills and experience of working with new technology and equipment.
· An interest in a range of television output.
· Experience of working successfully as an integral part of a team.
· Examples of initiative and the ability to work flexibly and/or adapt to changing circumstances.
· Demonstrate effective time management and the ability to prioritise own workload under pressure.
· Experience of working in a customer-focused environment.
· Basic Photoshop skills and the ability to manipulate digital images.
· The ability to speak more than one European language is desirable, Italian would be the preference however we would consider German, French, Polish, Czech or any Scandinavian languages.
· Excellent communication skills.
· A methodical approach and good attention to detail.
· To be able to cope under pressure, work to tight deadlines and deal with the demands of a busy production office.
· Thorough and imaginative research skills.
