Job Summary
As a listings writer you will provide editorial content for electronic programme guides and for websites and the press. You will be also responsible for linking episodes to enable viewers to record complete series on PVRs and adding keywords to programmes to make them searchable on the internet.

Job Purpose

Entering programme schedules, synopses and rich metadata, including biographies, onto a database which serves electronic media including catch-up and video-on-demand technologies, and for websites and the press, for both TV and radio. Maintaining accurate channel schedules, writing appropriate synopses, creating series links between episodes and handling late changes quickly and accurately. Fostering excellent relationships with broadcasters and clients. Periodic involvement in user-testing developments on the database.

Experience and skills required

To apply, you must be able to compose listings for programmes of any genre quickly and authoritatively based on information supplied by broadcasters. You must also be able to provide accurate English-Italian translations - both to a standard suitable for publication. This requires fluency in Italian (native speaker equivalent) and an excellent knowledge of English.

Previous experience of listings is not essential, but sound editorial judgement and a comprehensive grasp of language usage and style are both indispensable. You must also be a team player, always ready to respond to the needs of clients and colleagues. Training on our bespoke database will be given, but you should already possess a typing speed of 35-40 wpm and be computer-literate.

What you need to know about the recruitment process?

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete an online translation test. Those who have passed the test will be invited to an interview and a more extensive test checking their knowledge of Italian grammar and spelling, and writing/translating skills.

Location

Successful candidates will work in our west London offices a few minutes’ walk from Ealing Broadway.
