TEAM DESCRIPTION

PDU IP OS is responsible for the development of Ericsson's IP Operating System, the core software for Ericsson's IP platforms. Our products are deployed globally based on the SmartEdge (SE) and Smart Services Router (SSR) platforms. PDU IP OS is working on developing the next generation platform and technology to meet the requirements of the 4th generation IP networks.

The team is centrally located in San Jose, California and is focused on systems architecture, product requirements, innovation and thought leadership, and providing support to the software, hardware, and test teams to deliver cutting edge solutions. IP OS is a hub for innovation and creativity for individuals with a strong commitment to results and teamwork.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

· Design, implement, & execute automated white-box tests focused on compiler development or Layer 2 and 3 networking software.
· Interact with product management, software/hardware development team, and SQA to understand customer/product requirements.
· Develop test plans and test strategies to ensure that the new features/products meet specifications.
· Work closely with developers to reproduce, analyze, and debug internal bugs found during feature testing as well as customer issues found in the field.
· Debug the control plane software and implement fixes for the same.
· Potentially design and develop software and tools that enhance/enrich the capabilities/feature-set offered by the SmartEdge MSER Platform.

CANDIDATE PROFILE (INCLUDING EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS)

· Must have strong scripting skills in languages like LUA, Python, TCL/TK, Shell, perl.
· Must have strong C programming skills and solid design skills.
· Must have solid work ethic, customer focus, team player, with passion for delivering world class solutions.
· Must have a good working knowledge and coursework/experience in core computing technologies like Operating Systems, Compilers, Computer architecture & Algorithms.
· Good knowledge/experience/course-work in networking technologies e.g. LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, MPLS, Ethernet, VLAN etc is highly desired.
· Good knowledge of Routers and Switches is highly desired.

To qualify for an internship, candidates must be current bachelors or masters students, graduating on or after the end date of this term (December 2016). Those who graduate before this date will be automatically disqualified for an internship and are encouraged to apply to full-time postings.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS

· Enrolled in an accredited program with a minimum of 3 credits working towards a bachelors, masters, or PhD
· Availability for a full-time or part-time work (min 20 hours/week) during a traditional school semester, quarter, or trimester
· Student must sign a non-disclosure agreement / adhere to guidelines on information release for Co-Ops
· Student and University must agree to accept Ericsson's standardized student performance evaluation form for any requirements to complete course credit
· Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
