Position Summary
We are looking for highly skilled, self-driven and enthusiastic Java developers for the Ericsson R&D site in Budapest to develop the adaptation of the new Ericsson Network Manager product to support MINI-LINK nodes (Ericsson’s microwave link product family).
The new Ericsson Network Manager (ENM) is the platform for telecom operators to manage the transformation of their networks to new technologies, enabling management of hybrid networks, ranging from multi-standard radio, small cell and integrated Wi-Fi in indoor environments, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), evolved IP networks, virtual network function (VNF) infrastructures and dynamic networking with Software Defined Networks (SDN). ENM is modular, based on a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) with strong focus on separation of business logic and mediation by means of layering. The layers in the architectural framework are the northbound layer, the presentation layer, the services layer, the data layer, the mediation layer, the IT platform layer together with the runtime Standard Development Kit (SDK). Solution sets (units of related functionality) are used to deploy software support for those functions purchased or licensed by the operator. ENM is model-driven, meaning that the contribution of models can be used to influence ENM functionality – ENM is therefore easily extendable; SDKs are used for this purpose. The graphical user interface employs state-of-the-art web technologies for a modern user experience. The system is designed to allow for horizontal scalability – independently for domain services and mediation (the network). The ENM system provides applications with the ability to operate in a highly available manner. ENM consists of a number of separate clusters: Services Cluster, Database Cluster, Scripting Cluster & the Events Cluster. ENM services are deployed in Virtual Machines and are managed using Veritas Cluster Server (VCS).
The large-scale, multi-tiered, scalable, reliable, and secure network applications that compose the ENM feature set are implemented by using the Java Platform Enterprise Edition (Java EE). The program driving the development of ENM arches across development centers in Ireland, India, Italy, Sweden and Hungary, leading and coordinating the work of more than a hundred teams, working along agile software development principles.
The assignment organizationally belongs to the Product Development Unit Transport, that is part of Development Unit Network Products (DNEP) within Business Unit Network Products (BNEP), with the head office for Microwave product development placed in Gothenburg, and partner sites in Budapest and in Milan. The Microwave units in PDU Transport promote innovation and lead the product development in the area of microwave transmission with high volume products such as MINI-LINK as a well-known trademark.
