Job description
Seeking a Developer to work for a specialist financial services company based in Southend on Sea. The Software Development Team is responsible for the delivery of enterprise grade software solutions throughout the business and to the organisation's growing client base, common deliveries include:
- Web design and development including usability, accessibility and mobile
- Back office application development
- Database design and development
- System integration development
- Pricing engine development
- Website and intranet content management solutions
Key responsibilities:
- You will be involved throughout all stages of software development lifecycle: analysis, implementation, testing, debugging, release and handover. Working collaboratively with the Project and IT teams under the direction of the Lead Developers
- Software development: You will be developing business critical applications across numerous platforms and devices for internal and external clients by translating software requirements into workable programming code.
- Software tools and processes: You will work with industry standard software development tools such as source control, deployment servers, code libraries and appropriate methodologies/processes. You will be measured through peer to peer code reviews and quality metrics to ensure adherence to development standards are met.
Skills and experience:
- Commercial experience in a software development position
- C#, .Net (knowledge of framework 2.0 and above would be ideal but not essential, otherwise 3 onwards is sufficient) and SQL
- Ability to evaluate and recommend improvements for software effectiveness
- Highly numerate and literate, with the ability to produce top quality written specifications and documentation
Beneficial:
- Understanding of insurance platforms, products and rating systems
- Experience with NBScript, XML, JSON, Planet Press and Umbraco
