Job description
ENGIE are recruiting for Visitor Experience Host’s to be based in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, 5 Thornton Street, London E20 2AD. These are permanent roles one full time and one on a zero hours contract. The full time role will be working a two week rolling shift pattern to include alternate weekends. On offer will be a salary of £9.75 per hour. This role will report into the Visitor Experience Manager.

Working within London from the UK’s tallest sculpture and operating the world’s longest, fastest, tallest tunnel slide you will be at the heart of the ArcelorMittal Orbit experience. We’re looking for confident and proactive individuals who can communicate to a friendly, yet professional standard, willing to work hard and offer high levels of customer service both as a team and as individuals.
Operating The Slide you will be ultimately responsible for the safety of any guests or team members on the ride whilst also maintaining cleanliness and our strict safety policies. Where else can you say that you're responsible for world’s highest and, at 178m, the world’s longest tunnel slide?
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
Some of the main duties and responsibilities include:
· To acquire a detailed knowledge of the ArcelorMittal Orbit and the contents of its exhibitions, displays and installations as well as a good working knowledge of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and surrounding area.
· To provide information and background on the view and the ArcelorMittal Orbit, encouraging interaction with the exhibits, installations etc, communicating their relevance in a lively and informative way, answering questions fully.
· To deal with challenging visitors/customer complaints calmly and professionally, referring to a Visitor Experience Manager where necessary
· Ability to work unsupervised to conduct basic maintenance inspections and tests for The Slide.
· To undertake a stewarding role at events as requested under the direction of the Visitor Experience Manager or designated event manager. This will include taking tickets, directing visitors, answering questions, fulfilling a fire marshal role, undertaking light furniture moving, clearing and other duties as required to ensure that events run smoothly. Essential:
· Face to face customer service experience essential
· Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and talk clearly to members of the public and large groups of people from varying backgrounds.
· Capable of acting as a competent fire marshal in case of emergency evacuation (including use of evacuation chairs)
· Good written English and ability to complete opening checklists and paperwork
· Ability to work unsupervised to conduct basic maintenance inspections and tests for The Slide. Desirible:
· Experience working in a customer facing role in a tourist attraction
· A fluent second language
· Basic Health and Safety awareness
· An awareness of access and inclusion issues
· Previous experience as a fire marshal
· Demonstrable enthusiasm and passion for areas of interest linked to the ArcelorMittal Orbit such as Engineering, architecture, sculpture, sport, East London etc.
To be successful in this role you must provide the following:
· Minimum of 3 year history of employment (including information which can be verified for any gaps)
· If you do not have 3 years previous employment, a professional reference must be provided (obtained from a Medical Practitioner, Officer of the Armed Forces, Teacher, Lecturer, Lawyer, Bank Manager, Civil Servant etc)
· Proof of identity & eligibility to work in the UK which must include :
· Photographic I.D - Passport or Driving Licence.
· Passport and all relevant work permits
· or NI Number information / proof and full Birth certificate
· If no legal photographic documentation is owned then a passport photo which has been signed and verified by any of the above professionals will be required. This needs to show their title, signature and contact details.
· 2 proofs of address from within the last 3 months (i.e. council tax bill, bank statement, utilities bills).
· Any required qualifications or driving licence if required for the role. For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK. There is no re-location package with this job role.
