Workplace Solutions are recruiting for a Security General Duties Officer to be based in Cannington Court, Cannington, Nr Bridgwater, Somerset TA5 2HA. This is a permanent, full time role working 42.5 hours per week. This role requires flexible working. Shift patterns are provided a month in advance and are 12 hours days and nights, including weekends and bank holidays - 06:00 - 18:00 for a day shift and 18:00 - 06:00 for a night shift.
On offer is a competitive salary of £20,995 per annum.
General Overview:
To ensure the safety and security of all WPS, Elior and EDF Energy staff and authorised visitors. This is a customer facing role so a can-do attitude is essential.
All security staff will be required to work a shift pattern which will include nights, weekends and bank holidays. This role will require a good deal of flexibility to support the security, concierge and driving teams and the shift pattern will be flexible, usually provided a month in advance
Main Responsibilities:
· To be able to work effectively as part of the Security/Concierge Team
· Perform any internal and external foot patrols as requested
· Logging details of guests to site
· Maintain a full and accurate written log
· To keep your pocket book and the daily log up to date
· To check all EDF and contractors passes ensuring all are up to date and valid
· Direct visiting vehicles and delivery vehicles to the correct area when required
· Perform security and fire walks of the building
· Work on a shift that will require night work
· Perform driving duties
· Keep all vehicle logs up to date and ensure the vehicles are properly maintained
· Maintain any luggage storage area
· Check guests in out of hours
· Being fully aware of which rooms are occupied and which are not
· Operate basic computer packages or have a willingness and aptitude to learn
· Demonstrate a caring, professional attitude at all times
· Always maintain a smart appearance
· Maintain the strict no smoking policy that exists on Campus
· To take and pass on messages accurately
· To be able to communicate with personnel at all levels
· To be ready to change your own activities to meet different circumstances
· To be responsive to the need to work extended hours if needed
· To be friendly, pleasant and polite to your work colleagues
· To demonstrate a willing and positive manner
· To attend team briefing and training sessions as required
· This job will entail working on the Campus when large numbers of people are asleep in the accommodation blocks and the main building is empty so a high degree of personal responsibility is required. Individuals will need to be mature, calm and able to think on their feet.
