Maintenance and Engineering Manager, reporting directly to the Gas Plant Manager and we would like to invite you to read through the job details and apply if you feel you have the required experience and qualifications to meet the demands of this role.
Purpose of the job:
To manage the planning and safe delivery of maintenance activities to ensure there is no adverse impact on the gas storage assets, whilst maintaining the reliability and availability of the facility within agreed budget.
To define and implement innovative maintenance and engineering processes that delivers the lowest OPEX cost without compromising safety, reliability and availability – taking into account any commercial and/or operational constraints.
Provide direction and leadership to staff in the Maintenance & Engineering Teams, communicating on business and departmental objectives to ensure that staff work productively with a clear purpose to meet their objectives. Coach, mentor and develop staff to improve their skills, promoting a culture of collaboration and an environment where all staff are empowered to innovate.
Safety, Health & Environment
Implement the Storengy UK Safety Management System as defined in the COMAH Operational safety report.
Operate as the Main Controller as defined in the Internal Emergency Plan in the event of an incident
Ensure the Maintenance and Engineering Teams understand their SHE responsibilities and have the necessary
qualifications, training, competence and experience to carry out their duties in a safe and compliance manner.
Ensure Contractors carrying out maintenance work on the Gas Storage Assets are suitably qualified,
Competent and experienced to carry out their duties in a safe and compliance manner.
Drive improvements in Process Safety across site. Leads on investigations into gas storage asset incidents/
Accidents in accordance with the Storengy UK procedure.
Gas Storage Assets
Manage the activities and thework loadof the Maintenance and Engineering Teams-being accountable for
overall system health of the gas storage assets.
Responsible for defining maintenance strategy and annual maintenance plan for all gas assets. Ensure the
Maintenance management system data is accurate, complete and aligned with the maintenance plan.
Responsible for defining spares policy and spares holding for all gas storage assets – owner of the gas
Storage asset and spares register.
Accountable for the maintenance contract specifications and contract delivery, value for money, quality,
making recommendations for improvements following contract review.
Ensure maintenance policiesare implementedacross all the gas storage assets, including asset integrity
management. Lead on Continuous Improvement for Maintenance & Engineering Systems.
Regularly review the maintenance programme with key stakeholders to ensure the Commercial Team is
aware of any equipment outages that will affect availability and/or deliverability.
Review, update and approve work instructions, procedures and site engineering standard based on feedback,
audits, regulatory requirements and best practice both internally within Storengy, but also across the wider
industry.
Consider and implement systems for improving the performance / efficiency / availability of the assets through
Engineering solutions or improvements in the management of maintenance in order to achieve best practice.
Understand and follow the Management of Change (MoC) process – taking the lead of changes to any gas
Storage assets.
Act as Gas Plant Duty Manager as required.
Team Management
Conduct performance reviews for the Maintenance & Engineering Teams and monitor progress of
personal objectivesin accordance withthe Storengy UK Appraisal Process.
Develop and monitor training and development plans for Maintenance & Engineering Teams, managing
Competency assessments for both new and existing members of the teams, looking to up-skill team members
where possible.
Plan staffing levels within the Maintenance and Engineering Teams, working with HR to effectively recruit,
Select and induct new team members. Exemplify the Engie Leadership Model and embed its principles within
The Operations Team.
Define resource requirements for key operational and maintenance periods in order to minimise downtime /
Maximise plant availability.
Facilitate and actively encourage the flow of communication within the Operations, Maintenance and Engineering
teams. Seeks regular feedback from all sources in order to drive through safety and operational improvements.
Coordinate maintenance and engineering activities through prioritising and delegating appropriately. Carry
Out safety audits and acceptance evaluations of new equipment or processes.
Reporting and Budget
Forecast and be responsible for the anuual budget requirements for the gas storage asset maintenance.
Monitor spend against budget and define ways to avoid overspend.
Ensure maintenance data for gas storage assets is readily available, monitoring and reporting on maintenance
Performance through an agreed set of performance measures reported monthly, and use the data to
Define actions to improve the reliability / availability.
Skills / Experience required to perform the role
5 years maintenance experience in major process plants and two years experience in a managerial role.
Adopts a consistent approach, checks the quality of work and meets deadlines.
Adapts human and material resources to meet demands.
Relevant Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline – Essential
Specific technical training related to gas Assets – Essential.
Reporting to the Gas Plant Manager
Direct reporting to : Technicians Team Leader, Technicians, Mechanical Engineer,
Electrical Engineer, C & I Engineer, Work Maintenance Planner, Technical Assistant,
Materials Controller.
