Job description

Workplace Solutions are recruiting for a Joiner to work on our contract at Torness Power Station , Dunbar EH42 1QU.

This is a permanent role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7.4 hours per day. On offer will be a competitive salary.

For this role you will need to pass a basic DBS check.

Reporting into theCivils Supervisor, the role requires the person to bean effective member of the Hard Services Team, who will be focused on customer care with a “can do” attitude and with the flexibility and adaptability to work within the team in a changing business environment. 

Duties include providing a wide variety of skills on site, Work will include the repair of internal and external doors, general joinery work and manufacturing of shelves, doors etc. in accordance with Company standards.

The person needs to be able to:

·  Have the ability to follow work instructions (Work Order Cards and Permits to Work)
·  Be competent to perform Point of Work Risk Assessment
·  Have a Flexible approach to work and use own initiative
·  Develop effective working relationships with appropriate parties
·  Be a team player with good communication skills
·  Able to overcome challenging situations
·  Have ability to repair internal and external doors,
·  Be able to do general joinery work and manufacturing of shelves, doors.
·  Willingly contribute to the overall team and company objectives, responding quickly to new directives and challenges
·  Ability to read, understand and apply safe working practices in challenging environments
·  Able to work to strict time scales and complete relevant paperwork
·  To ensure equipment and surrounding area conform to agreed company standards.
·  To provide a professional service and represent the company in a way which ensures customer satisfaction.
·  To take a pro-active approach to client liaison and ensure that concerns are dealt with or relayed to management as necessary

·  Experience of working on Nuclear sites preferred but not essential
·  Previous job related experience / qualifications
·  Level 3 (NVQ/SVQ) Diploma in Wood Occupations
·  Experience of using and maintaining a large variety of building & maintenance tools.
·  Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
·  Good Timekeeping and attendance record.

You must be able to provide if progressed in the interview process the following:

·  Minimum of 3 year history of employment (including information which can be verified for any gaps)
·  If you do not have 3 years previous employment, a professional reference must be provided (obtained from a Medical Practitioner, Officer of the Armed Forces, Teacher, Lecturer, Lawyer, Bank Manager, Civil Servant etc.)
·  Proof of identity & eligibility to work in the UK which must include :
·  Photographic I.D Passport or Driving Licence.
·  Passport and all relevant work permits
·  or NI Number information / proof and full Birth certificate
·  If no legal photographic documentation is owned then a passport photo which has been signed and verified by any of the above professionals will be required. This needs to show their title, signature and contact details.
·  3 proofs of address from within the last 3 months (i.e. council tax bill, bank statement, utilities bills).
·  Any required qualifications or driving licence if required for the role.
