Job description

ENGIE are recruiting for 2 Grounds Assistants to be based at Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals, Wakefield WF1 4DG. These are  permanent full time roles working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.


General Overview:   

The role of the Grounds Assistants is to assist the grounds and gardens team providing an essential ground, and gardens maintenance service.  The ideal candidate will have a broad range of practical skills including hard landscaping and paving. Reports to the Grounds and Gardens Supervisor

The post holders will assist the Estates Dept in the delivery of a professional grounds maintenance service, within the grounds and properties of the Client, and under the terms of relevant ‘Service Level agreements’, upon those of its external clients, with duties to be inclusive of the following:
Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:

·  Participate in a wide variety of grounds maintenance tasks, including maintaining paving, fence repairs, general maintenance of ornamental features and furniture, maintaining shrubs and planted areas, grass cutting, tree pruning, sweeping and litter collection.
·  Investigate and carry out and general ground maintenance works
·  Regularly check and carry out minor repairs, cleaning and servicing of gardening machinery. 
·  To undertake the clearance of frost, ice, snow accumulations from all highways, car parks, footpaths, access ramps / stairways, employing rock salt, together with a range of ice dispersants, which are applied manually, and with the aid of mechanically propelled gritting equipment.
·  To assist with the planned maintenance of all Commemorative Gardens / areas of special significance
·  To participate in the continuous improvement of the grounds and gardens department.
·  To carry out any other task as directed by the Grounds and Gardens supervisor that is within your capability

Qualifications or Required Experience:  

·  General ground Works experience
·  Fence Installations experience
·  General Horticultural experience 
·  Driving licence
