Job description

ENGIE are recruiting for a Financial Advisor to be based in London (Canary Wharf E14 5LQ). This is a permanent and full time role which offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Purpose of the Job

• To work closely with the divisional Business Development teams and provide detailed financial analysis to support investment decision making activities

• To perform the regional annual impairment review update

• To provide support on various analysis and projects, including acquisitions, restructuring and financings within the UK

• To provide a top-quality service to Group AI&FA for all information and analysis requests.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop robust project models in line with AI&FA best practices. Ensure all relevant investment guidelines have been taken into account. Ensure accurate and consistent financial information across all projects, with great attention to detail.

• Identify and thoroughly analyse key valuation drivers and issues for allocated projects. Liaise directly with V&A, Finance and Tax to understand the business plans and relevant assumptions and their associated impact on the project model as well as the accounting and tax treatment as appropriate. Calculate both the financial (NPV, IRR) as well the accounting impacts (net debt, COI, ROCE, NRRgs, profit on disposal) of investment decisions.

• Ensure strict financial discipline in investment selection. Fully prepare investment files in anticipation of submission to investment committees. Ensure all key issues have been clearly identified and succinctly communicated in presentations. Participate in UKCC meetings for assigned projects representing AI&FA.

• Establish and maintain strong working relationships, with the regional Finance, Tax, V&A and Business Development teams to ensure effective information flow. Ensure a deep understanding of regional performance and prospects through regular interaction with Finance and Business Development teams.

• Participate in the regional annual impairment review. Prepare the impairment model and report for assets assigned. Engage directly with the external auditors to defend the Group’s position where appropriate.

• Support Group AI&FA with any corporate initiatives. Liaise with Group AI&FA for any consistency / methodological issues.

• Be the key point of contact with end-responsibility for all financial projects assigned. Keep the Head of AI&FA informed of key issues and developments. Know how to work in multi-disciplinary project teams.

• Responsible for planning and organising own workload to ensure competing deadlines are met.

• Relevant university degree
• Financial experience and qualifications preferable.

Knowledge and Skills

Financial

• Strong analytical, numerical and financial modelling skills
• Knowledge of valuation methodologies and techniques
• Good knowledge and understanding of financial reporting (P&L, Cash Flow, Balance Sheet), tax and corporate structures
• Ability to communicate complex messages succinctly and with simplicity – both via verbally and via PowerPoint

Strategic

• Thorough understanding of the Division’s business, its strategy, its current and potential business
• Understanding of the UK power market, and how it is structured
• Understanding of generation technologies and key valuation drivers

Experience

• Successful track record in AI&FA and/or other relevant financial roles
• Demonstrated ability to apply professional expertise in a commercial environment
• Successful track record of working in a complex, multi-cultural, global business and delivery of business focussed solutions
• Financial modelling proficiency
• Power generation / utilities infrastructure industry knowledge and experience preferable
