Entreprise:
The European Affairs Department (EAD) as part of the Group’s Regulation Department:
draws up Group positions on priority matters after consulting all of the relevant Group entities;
actively represents and lobbies for the Group in dealing with the European institutions;
coordinates the Group's involvement in the various European professional organisations;
informs/notifies the relevant Group entities of the latest issues.
Poste et missions:
As European Affairs Policy Advisor, you will have the chance to acquire practical knowledge of the European decision-making process and to gain a deeper understanding of the internal functioning of the European institutions in a dynamic operational professional environment. This will also provide you with the opportunity to establish a strong European network in Brussels.
Within the EAD, as European Affairs Policy Advisor you will be responsible for day-to-day monitoring of the European institutions' legislative and regulatory activities and the work of the main European stakeholders in the areas belonging to ENGIE's field of activity.
You will also help to raise awareness of the department’s activities amongst the Business Units and internal contacts and will be involved in developing communication tools to this end.
Participation on behalf of ENGIE to external meetings/conferences, you will show a general understanding of the Group's businesses, positions and challenges and will show good interpersonal skills. Candidates should be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
In your role as European Affairs Policy Advisor, you will need strong writing and summarising skills particularly when drafting the minutes of the various conferences and meetings you have attended or when drafting notes and internal documents.
You will need to speak and write English on a day-to-day basis.
Reporting to the Head of Department, as European Affairs Policy Officer you will:
be responsible for day-to-day monitoring of the activities of the European institutions and other major European actors (regulators, grid operators, think tanks, professional organisations, etc.);
contribute to the bi-monthly departmental newsletter;
attend external conferences on matters of major interest to the Group and report back on these;
help to monitor the work of parliamentary committees and to identify key actors, balances of power and legislative timetables within the European Parliament on specific matters pinpointed by the department;
analyse and summarise reports and draft legislation;
participate in the department's cross-cutting activities (Daily News, planning of events and preparing files).
In this role, you will be entrusted with certain files and topics (to be determined based on the department's needs and latest developments).
Profil:
You hold a university degree (law, international relations or politics) or your are a graduate of an Institute of Political Studies, the College of Europe.
You have an obvious interest in European affairs.
You have experience working in a professional environment (e.g. internship in the European institutions, a company or elsewhere) as well as knowledge of the EU decision-making process.
You are familiar with one or more of the following domains: energy and environmental policy.
You are self-disciplined, creative, flexible and able to work with some level of independence.
You have strong interpersonal skills.
You are a team player.
You clearly have an analytical mind and an ability to see the big picture.
You have good redactional skills.
You have an excellent command of both spoken and written English.
