Job description

ENGIE are recruiting for a Electrical Apprenticeship to be based at Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5LQ. This is a temporary (24 Months) full time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 09:00 am - 17:00 pm. On offer is a salary of £20,000  - £21,215  per annum.


20% of the time will be spent on off the job training, on a day release basis at Carshalton College
  
The purpose of this role is to work towards level 2/3 Electrical Installation.


General Overview:  

As an apprentice electrician working for Engie, you will assist the Electricians in their daily duties. You will be expected to perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), where you will be maintaining TFL’s electrical assets, and essential parts of TFL’s L.V infrastructure. You will also assist electricians, performing Reactive Maintenance, such as responding to emergency electrical faults and also be involved with high profile electrical installation projects. Reporting to the Electrical Manager
Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:

Working with Engie, you will benefit from working with time served electricians, and electrical engineers. You will gain extensive knowledge working with lighting systems, Distribution systems, UPS & back-up L.V systems. 

You will learning switching and control methods, wiring methods, as well as learning from test and inspection engineers’ detailing how to commission and test electrotechnical systems  to the requirements BS7671. 

The main requirement to perform the role is that it is a must to be enthusiastic and work as a team member. Ideally the candidate would have some electrical / technical background, prepared to do physical work, and work well under direction.

TfL and London underground have their own competence systems and training will be provided throughout your experience, such as specialised ‘safe isolation training’, secure room access training (Sub-Station), L&E training, and health and safety training.

Qualifications or Required Experience:    

·  Candidates would ideally be technically minded and have an interest in the electrical sector. 
·  Experience in following or understanding technical type drawings, or previous experience in the electrical industry would be an advantage, but not essential.  
·  Basic computer literacy skills will be required, such as the ability to compose emails, and basic written reports (Microsoft Word).
·  Ideally the candidate would hold a full UK driving licence
·  We do not expect minimum qualifications, but you will be expected to have a grasp of mathematics and English. For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK. There is no re-location package with this job role.
