ENGIE are recruiting for an Apprentice Electrician to be based in Grimsby. This is a full time, 24 month apprenticeship role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:

ENGIE have identified a great opportunity to introduce a Property Electrician Operative apprentice to their Facilities Management team.  ENGIE are looking to employ a confident and motivated individual to work at the North East Lincolnshire Contract who is looking for career and personal development opportunities.  The successful candidate will be responsible to the FM Manager and assist with the delivery of property electrical installation maintenance in domestic and commercial properties. 

The individual will be required to work towards and successfully complete a level 2 qualification in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures) and will assist to optimise property electrical condition and quality and to ensure the buildings electrical installations are maintained in a safe working environment.  The property electrician operatives will need to maintain high levels of quality and customer care to clients, guests, building users and team members.

They will learn to understand the mechanism of building including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety system and equipment and they will provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and cost effectiveness.

Principles of Electrical Science - Mainly theory Based

Installation of Wiring Systems and enclosures – Practical & Theory Training 

· 
Health and Safety in Building Services Engineering - Practical & Theory Training 

· 
Understand how to communicate with others within Building Services Engineering - Practical & Theory Training

· 
Understand and demonstrate the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace

· 
Comply with organisational safety, policies and procedures and identify hazards and reduce them

· 
Consider safety compliance with a diverse sector of client groups

· 
Maintain high levels of water hygiene within a building

· 
Understand and maintain electrical distribution, safe repair of electrical installation to legal requirements, for example replacing damaged sockets, plugs, lighting and fuses.

· 
Demonstrate and implement energy, environment and sustainable practices

· 
Understand and demonstrate the safe use of hand tools, for example screwdrivers, power drills, pliers, strippers and a variety other tools used in electrical works

· 
Demonstrate and understand the importance of the control of resources and stock

· 
Understand and demonstrate the principles of Planned Preventative Maintenance

· 
Carry out repairs and reactive maintenance

· 
Understand the importance of customer service

· 
Record and report information accurately either internally or externally

Impact:  

The apprentice will be recognised by City and Guilds  and will provide 2357 NVQ Diploma providing Associate Membership for the apprentice whilst studying. 

In order to do this, these apprenticeships include: 

·  A qualification that assesses competence in work situations 
·  A knowledge qualification that demonstrates an appropriate level of understanding about the area of work 
·  In some cases a combined qualification, which tests both competence and knowledge 
·  Functional Skills – which ensure that appropriate standards in English and maths are met 
·  Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) – awareness of the rights and responsibilities that are essential in the workplace 
·  Development of Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) – which are essential in all workplaces, including for effective participators, self-managers, independent enquirers, creative thinkers, reflective learners and team workers.

Progression

Completing this apprenticeship programme with its transferable skills will enable progression into roles such as a Technical Specialist e.g. Electrical Installations and Supervisory and Management roles e.g. Electrical Installation, across a wide range of sectors.

Complexity:   

The apprenticeship provides a foundation for individuals to develop skills and behaviours in a property electrical installation working environment, which provides a pathway to development to level 3 qualification.

The role will requires the individual to work as part of a property maintenance team based in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire and will require work as part of a team of skilled property fabric, electrical and mechanical (plumbing & heating) team members. 

Attendance to a Level 2 electrical installation apprenticeship qualification will be required which will involve travel to the course and participating in-group and individual training.  The completion of individual and group course work (to be agreed in the course syllabus).  Time will be provided to complete the course work but there will be an expectation for some activities to be completed outside of the working day.

Required Qualifications, Skills or Experience: 

·  Experience in property maintenance or construction activities would be beneficial but not essential.
·  Committed to achieving a Level 2 qualification in Electrical Installation in the commercial and domestic build environment 
·  An industrious and motivated with a desire to learn attitude
·  Punctuality with the means to attend the workplace
·  Good ICT skills with an understanding of Excel, Word and social media 
·  Able to interact with others 
·  Ability to work alone using own initiative
