Job description

ENGIE are recruiting for an Apprentice Electrical Engineer to be based in Unit 42 Enterprise Centre, Bryn Road, Bridgend, CF32 9BS.

 

This is a fixed term full time role (working 40 hours per week) and the pay rate will comply with the National Minimum Wage for an Apprenticeship Scheme.  This role will report into the Service Operations Manager.

 

To be successful in this role you must provide the following:

·  Minimum of 3 year history of employment (including information which can be verified for any gaps)
·  If you do not have 3 years previous employment, a professional reference must be provided (obtained from a Medical Practitioner, Officer of the Armed Forces, Teacher, Lecturer, Lawyer, Bank Manager, Civil Servant etc)
·  Proof of identity & eligibility to work in the UK which must include :
·  Photographic I.D - Passport or Driving Licence.
·  Passport and all relevant work permits
·  or NI Number information / proof and full Birth certificate
·  If no legal photographic documentation is owned then a passport photo which has been signed and verified by any of the above professionals will be required. This needs to show their title, signature and contact details.
·  2 proofs of address from within the last 3 months (i.e. council tax bill, bank statement, utilities bills).
·  Any required qualifications or driving licence if required for the role

Purpose of the job:  

·  To undertake an apprenticeship as a electrical engineer leading to a nationally recognised qualification and accreditation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·  To complete a programme of training to be conducted within the College Electrical Engineering departmental workshops and classrooms.
·  To become proficient in the application and use of a wide range of tools including, but not restricted to measurement meters, thermostatic and infra-red.
·  Fitting and assembly skills including the use of hand tools and marking out.
·  Measurement and inspection techniques using a variety of meters equipment.
·  Training in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) using proprietary software packages
·  Attendance at college on a day release and evening class basis leading to recognised NVQ qualifications over a period.
·  Carrying out such tasks and duties as directed by the Service Operations Manager / Service Supervisor that are calculated to contribute to the requisite levels of performance and competence.
·  To progress to basic electrical testing.

·  A minimum of 4 GCSE’s, or equivalent, at Grade A* to C including English, Maths and a science related subject
·  A minimum of 2 “A” levels, or equivalent, in an engineering or science related subject is desirable
·  No prerequisite experience required but a demonstrable interest in electrical engineering through school or hobby interests
·  Demonstrable interest in an engineering discipline
·  To be I.T. literate and familiar with Microsoft “Word”, “Excel” or equivalent software
·  Ability to work efficiently and accurately
·  Highly motivated
·  Aptitude for practical science or engineering skills
·  The ability to work as a team member and possess good interpersonal, communication and literacy skills
·  To work with efficiency, accuracy and to be able to meet deadlines
·  To be able to prioritise workload and work under own initiative
·  High level of flexibility and dependability

For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK.
