Fantastic opportunity to join a well established and market leading company. This engineering position will complement the work being undertaken by other engineers throughout the full development process of design concept through to product launch.
To support the Company's design activity as determined by the current programme
Working as an individual, or within a NPD Project team, undertaking design and development tasks as appropriate to the specific project
Leading the engineering design activity within a NPD project team, providing guidance and direction to Design Technicians
The creation and execution of design solutions
To report to the Project/programme Managers within agreed timescales on project performance, including design package and overall project delivery, technical reviews and project risks
The creation, evaluation and testing of design solutions, competitor's products, producing reports on findings and outlining recommendations
Liaison with the other core teams throughout the business to ensure the UK needs, including approvals requirements, are met
Compilation and entry of supporting data such as: product structures, design record files, engineering changes etc.
Participation in project reviews, including reporting to the Project Manager within agreed timescales on project deliverables, including project hazard potential
Liaison with Manufacturing engineers and Suppliers to ensure that proposed design solutions are implemented in a timely and cost effective manner
Working within the guidelines of departmental and company policies, procedures and work instructions.
Research of relevant technical developments from various sources including: technical literature, suppliers, standards authorities etc.
Experience
Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering subject or equivalent engineering experience with a completed relevant engineering apprenticeship
Experience of new product introductions
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail and a creative approach to problem solving.
Multi disciplinary team working. Strong team player, able to work on their own initiative
Proficient in MS Office. Knowledge of FMEA's, DFA and Moldflow
Design of mechanical / electro-mechanical products / mechanisms.
Consumer products, Plastic injection moulding. 3D / 2D CAD, preferably Creo.
