Safety and Environmental Protection Specialist

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Initiating and coordinating actions aimed at improving safety at the plant and lowering the influence of the company on natural environment;

• Identification and tracking of changes in current legislation and other requirements in health and safety and fire area as well as initiating appropriate adjustments activities necessary to achieve conformity with legal and other requirements;

• Contacting service and scientific research units in health and safety and fire protection scope

• Monitoring the company regulations an guidelines in relation to safety and environmental protection;

• Reporting outside institutions according to the law and corporations;

• Commissioning and coordination of safety and environmental documentation preparation;

• Controlling the chemical substances;

• Regular control of work conditions, following the safety and fire procedures, participating in projects connected to safety issues, reception of machines and equipment;

• Organizing environmental examinations and measurements based on the law or superior’s decision;

• Updating the chemical substances register: register of substances based on the area, codes, threats, return, usage per year, maximum warehousing amount, purpose;

• Preparation of chemical substances information cards according to characteristic cards;

• Providing the adequate level of safety, environmental trainings (preparing the general safety training);

• Monitoring and assessment of the professional risk in the company and undertaking actions aimed at its elimination minimization;

• Undertaking actions aimed at continuous raise of safety standards, preparing training materials, handouts and posters;

• Daily control of working conditions, following law regulations, safety and hygiene principles, fire fighting and environment protection, re-controlling of the previously issued recommendations;

• Cooperation with Health service;

• Supervision over preparing data for referrals for medical examinations

• Carrying out internal audits of environment management system ISO 14001 and safety management system OHSAS 18001, environment protection, safety and fire fighting;

• Participation in works of health and safety committee and other plant committees appointed by employer.

• Monitoring and controlling of the outside contractors; • Post-accidental investigations and investigations connected with incidents and accidents;

• Selection of the most appropriate means of collective and individual protection;

• Constant informing and presenting the employer with safety and work hygiene conditions analysis, environmental requirements, noticed threats and ways of their elimination;

• Contacting and cooperating with safety, environmental, and fire inspections;

• Creation and implementation of the necessary procedures connected with health and environmental protection, fire, and work safety; participating in developing internal directives, regulations and general procedures concerning health and safety, creating health and safety instructions;

• Coordinating rescuing activities in case of emergency situation and creating preventive proposals.

• Acting in the best interest of the company and protecting its property as well as using it in accordance to their purpose;

• Internal auditor ISO 9001,14001,18001

·  Minimum  2 years professional experience in a high manufacturing environment
