Job description
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Material Planner will be responsible for maintaining/establishing the continuity-of-supply for all parts in order to support assigned area. Will be required to adhere to pre-determined inventory levels for assigned parts and hit all inventory targets while following the EHP planning process. The team member will be expected to work with internal quality to address quality-related issues, and will work closely with all cross-functional team members, in particular, purchasing. The team member will also be required to participate in the annual physical inventory and any plan cycle counter events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Order and expedite production material.
· Analyze inventory levels and resolve part shortages using available tools and processes.
· Plan, schedule, release and control production orders based on MRP time-phased requirements.
· Communicate production schedule to production departments and to other departments as required clarifying any open questions and concerns regarding the scheduling process.
· Plan inventory levels to support customers.
· Develop ways to continuously improve the materials planning process and work with cross-functional teams to implement ideas.
· Infuse lean thinking into the department.
· Help suppliers think “lean” in their processes.
· Track press shop products and schedule attainment.
· Assist in inventory management including inventory turns, excess/obsolete parts disposition in a timely manner.
· Know purchase/make parts in great detail and cross train.
· Assist in labor and staffing requirements.
· Monitor and evaluate production statistics such as downtime, productivity scrap, and advise on performance stats.
· Resolve to be a great team and cross-functional team player.
· Review capacity including developing a capacity report to identify time periods when capacity could impact the ability to meet demand.
· Think “outside of the box” often and come up with innovative ways to address deficiencies.
· Perform audits.
· Priority is to ensure that production lines are supplied with quality parts according to the SIOP.

Desired profile
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· BS degree in logistics, operations management, supply chain or a related field
· 3-5 years in advanced production planning.
· Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
· APICS certification preferred
· Basic production control knowledge and experience such as MRP, Demand Flow, Kan-Ban, JIT.
· Proven experience in Materials Control & Planning (Purchasing is a plus) related activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
· Process oriented (Following SOPs, ISO-Documentation).
· AS400/JD Edwards required
· Capability to work under pressing business environment.
· Strong focus on customer service.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Must be able to work flexible hours possibly to include the off shift when and if required
· Must be able and willing to manage multiple projects.
