Engie are recruiting for a Security Officer to be based in Pinderfields Hospital WF1 4DGs. This is a permanent full time role working 42 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £21,908 (allowance inclusive).The role holder will report to Security Supervisor and will be part of a team responsible for Site Security and Car Parking on a 24 hour basis. To undertake Security/Car Parking duties and at the same time being efficient and courteous and demonstrate professionalism at all times. The post holder is expected to work to their own initiative, delivering an effective security and car parking service within the Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals.

• Protection of patients, staff, visitors, contractors and any other legitimate site users' property against loss, theft, damage and waste.
• Deal with disturbances and the escorting of unauthorised persons off the premises.
• Provide a Ward/Department presence in situations where patients and/or visitors are being or potentially being violent or aggressive.
• Carry out investigations when required of any loss or breaches of security and undertake any other follow-up enquiries as necessary.
• Liaise with outside agencies including requesting police assistance when required.
• Encourage staff to develop awareness in crime prevention and the protection of hospital property.
• Ensure security of all cash movements/collections if tasked to do so.
• Deal with Trust/Trusts in-patients and out-patients, on a face-to-face basis, in circumstances involving violent/aggressive behaviour.
• Receive complaints of crime from patients/visitors and staff.
• Ensure own safety at all times.
• Ensure the safety of site users by the preservation of good order. Protecting those users against any violent or abusive acts and preventing any other actions which may present a hazard.
• Report any untoward incidents concerning members of staff to the Security Supervisor.
• Report any criminal acts to the Police and the Security Supervisor.
• The locking and unlocking of designated areas as and when required.
• To monitor vehicles parked on site to ensure all vehicles are authorised to park in designated areas.
• To follow ENGIE Workplace & Trust Policy in regard to unauthorised vehicles & have the responsibility for the issue of parking notices & fixed penalty notices as appropriate in line with the car parking local operating procedures for enforcement.
• Security staff will be expected to maintain, at all times, a standard of personal conduct and deportment in keeping with the nature of their duties and the hospital environment.
• To deal with staff patients, contractors or any other site users in a polite and courteous manner.
• Monitor CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) equipment on a regular basis and to use equipment to identify suspicious/threatening behaviour or activity.
• Carry out when authorised any Data downloads/record incidents for providing evidence for Investigation purposes as required in line with directives of the Trust & in line with the Data Protection Act & Local Operating Procedures.
• Carry out regular patrols of the site and to report any incidents and/or damage in line with Local Operating Procedures.
• Monitor/Escort patients/visitors upon instruction.
• Be familiar with local assignment instructions and procedures for reporting incidents.
• Monitor medical gases alarm system and report any alarms as per Local Operating Procedures.
• Monitor fire protection system(s) and are responsible for the coordination of fire response team if fire detected as per Local Operating Procedures (when in control room).
• Respond as required to fire alarm activations (when on patrol and or available to do so as per Local Operating Procedures.
• Perform maintenance tasks on fire protection system (i.e. Carry out isolations to assist Estates department as and when required to do so using the Fire Systems Head End PC).
• Provide emergency assistance to estates staff as required (i.e. major facilities incidents and dilemmas.).
• Liaise with Help Desk & assist Estates staff & outside agencies regards rectification of reported equipment failures/faults by providing accurate information and security solutions when sub-contractors are on site if requested and tasked to do so.
• Handle small amounts of cash from manually issued car park tickets as and when required to ensure the car parking service is delivered.
• Responsible for the first line maintenance of car park ticket machines (change ticket rolls, clear coin jams and rectify minor faults etc.).
• Monitoring and Manage rectification of faults of door access systems (PC based software). Ensuring access & security systems are working.
• Administration and management of door access cards and associated database.
• Assist in the passage of critical information when communications systems fail.
• Manage all security control room functions as a security room controller when on duty in the control room and assume control of incidents and dilemmas as a control authority during incidents until such time as management assume control or the incident is resolved.
• Any other ad hoc duties at the request of the line manager, as deemed reasonable. The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties commensurate with their knowledge, experience and banding.

• Previous experience in a Security position or similar role is essential further training will be provided to ensure all security staff is trained to the requirements of the contract.
• SIA licences in Security Guarding as a minimum
• CCTV licence.
