Job description

Engie are recruiting for a Electrical Engineer in Sullom Voe Power Station. This is a permanent full time role consisting of a 37 hour week. On offer is a salary of up to £58K, dependent on skills and experience.


Duties and Responsibilities:

The role is responsible for all electrical engineering and maintenance at the Power Plant, in co-operation with other members of the maintenance and operation team. The focus of the role is to ensure optimal long-term availability of the power plant, to preserve the value of the asset and to ensure environmental, health, safety, quality and financial targets are achieved.

·  Implement maintenance activities, during planned and unplanned shutdowns to ensure optimal long-term availability of the plant and to preserve the value of the facility within approved budget.
·  Carry out electrical high voltage work as necessary on site with the electrical team.
·  Manage electrical maintenance statutory inspections and testing ensuring all documentation is completed and up to date.
·  Ensure good housekeeping and maintenance standards within the plant and Electrical Engineering workshop.
·  Ensure the Computerised Maintenance Management System is utilised to its full potential and all work orders are completed by the due date.
·  Ensure that all Electrical Engineering activities within the plant are carried out in a safe manner in line with site policies, and relevant health, safety and environmental statutory requirements.
·  Carry out risk assessments to ensure activities are carried out in a safe manner.
·  Carry out regular team meetings (or briefings) to ensure good communications are achieved at all times.
·  Carry out training and personal development discussions with team members to ensure a high level of competencies within the organisation and review with line manager.
·  Co-operate with, and assist other disciplines during all maintenance activities.
·  To assess existing plant and ancillaries for modification proposals in the event of items becoming obsolete.

Desired profile

·  Possess SVQ III to SVQ IV or HND Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) qualifications.
·  IOSH Working Safely.
·  High Voltage Authorisation (or working towards it).
·  Computer literate – MS Office, CMMS, Permit System, Process Information.
·  Experience in supervising own team and contractors to deliver maintenance plan and agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) efficiently.
·  Track record of problem solving effectively and efficiently to agreed site standards, co-ordination and supervise of work activities for staff and contractors and experience in developing and maintaining effective relations with contractors and external customers.
·  Experience in working with High and Low Voltage apparatus and equipment, undertaking switching activities and condition monitoring interconnected electrical systems.
·  Have preferably vast experience in heavy process or power plant environment within Electrical Engineering discipline.
·  Possess a good understand of health, safety and environment legislation relevant to heavy process or power industry.
