Engie are recruiting for a Control and Instrument Technician t be based in Sullom Voe Power Station. This is a full time position on a permanent basis. Working hours are 36.25 per week and on offer is a salary, plus relevant allowances of £42,120 - £44,729 depending on skills and experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The role provides support to the Control and Instrument Engineer in delivery of the agreed station maintenance, outage and investment works, ensuring that a professional service and approach is maintained at all times. The Instrument Technician will work with other members of the station team to ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard of quality control in line with the expectations of the station and external customers.

·  Root cause analysis of equipment failure.
·  Execute work to Cofely and industry standards.
·  Conduct isolations to conform to Safe System of Work.
·  Commissioning of new plant or existing plant being returned from maintenance.
·  Develop/progress small modification ideas for input into Plant Modification Process.
·  Supervise Contractors.
·  Liaising with vendors regarding the ordering of spare/new parts.
·  Calibration & inspection of relevant devices for the process control system, emergency shutdown system, fire detection & suppression system, gas detection system and measurement systems.
·  This position provides the resource to maintain the control and instrumentation installed at site which is the key to the safe and effective operation of the plant, ensuring that the correct data is fed into the DCS to allow the operator to be confident of the operational status of the plant. The success of this role will be due to a diligent and methodological approach to work with a focus on detail and following the correct inspection, repair and calibration methods.
·  The impact of this role on a financial front could be severe if the work undertaken is of poor quality or leads to a plant trip that would incur penalties from the customer if in breach of our contract. On a direct management of costs this role would at times be responsible for managing budgets up to £25,000.
·  The Instrument Technician will need to apply a range of maintenance techniques to complete their work, which will include the following of defined standards and processes and also being able to problem solve where the fault cannot be identified through standard methods. They will need to be able to deliver against tight deadlines and at times under the scrutiny of both internal and external parties.
·  The role will also require the need to work with other parties to resolve control system issues, supporting the operations team at times of plant distress and responding to requests for technical guidance on fault management.

Desired profile

·  Possess SVQ III or HNC in relevant discipline.
·  IOSH Working Safely.
·  Completed apprenticeship in relevant trade.

The following experience is required:

·  Computer literate – MS Office, Permit System, CMMS, Process Information.
·  Experience of working with DCS, PLC control & monitoring systems and have the ability to read and interpret PIDs, wiring diagrams and circuit diagrams..
·  Extensive experience working within the power/utility/gas/oil industry.
