Job description
Engie are recruiting for Casual Catering Assistant to be based in the University Hospital North Durham DH1 5TW. This is a casual zero hours contract at £7.82 per hour and will report to the Customer Services Manager.
General Overview:
· To work within established catering routines using own initiative as appropriate in the provision of snacks and Beverages within the commercial restaurant.
· The hygienic handling of food products in accordance with food hygiene legislation and the Trust/Company Food Safety Policy (HACCP).
· Observation of statutory and Trust/Company food hygiene regulations.
· Taking and recording of food temperatures and seeking further instruction where these are outside of critical limits.
· To assist in the preparation of basic food and simple cooking as required..
· Produce all products in accordance with Cofely Catering policy/catering manuals and legislative standards relating to portion control, preparation, production and storage methods.
· To be involved in the general cleaning following the appropriate cleaning schedules, use of electrical floor scrubber, vacuuming areas and cleaning of all catering equipment.
· Appropriate disposal and recording of waste in accordance with instruction ensuring that wastage is kept to a minimum.
· Maintain stock budget control and complete appropriate budget documentation/records.
· Monitor storage equipment and report all failures.
· Ensure stock control measures are maintained / recorded.
· Ensure that all catering staff complies with Company/Trust and legislative Health and Safety regulations.
· Observe the quality control procedure within the Catering Department.
· Key holder with end of shift department close down/ lock up in line with local operational procedures.
· Complete/monitor all catering forms to support the HACCP analysis including delivery control forms.
· To ensure stock control and rotation within the dry storage areas and of the kitchen refrigeration and freezer units
· Ensure that a high standard of personal grooming is maintained including wearing the required uniform and PPE provided.
· The post holder must be willing to undertake mandatory training as appropriate to the job.
· Ensure training and refresher training undertaken in Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, COSHH, HACCP, Fire Safety and Trust/Company policies and procedures.
· Develop and demonstrate an understanding of any specific dietary requirements to meet patient's needs if the need arises.
· Reporting of equipment faults to the catering supervisors and report through the Help Desk. keeping records of the job numbers
· Respond to enquiries in relation to the food service and refer to line managers as appropriate.
· Attend toolbox talks and company communication briefs,
· Ensure that any faults/maintenance issues are reported through the Help Desk.
· The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties commensurate with their knowledge and experience

Qualifications or Required Experience:
· Level 2 Award in Food Safety
· Some till experience is preferable but not essential.
