Eaton currently has an opening for an Assembly Technician in our Bus Department to work at our Omaha, NE plant.
This position installs components, copper bus supports, post insulators, barriers, which support bus bar on 480 volt to 38 kv electrical switchgear. Installs bus bar to components by bolting and torqueing all bolts to specs as described in the blueprints and engineering drawings.
Position Criteria:
•Read and understand mechanical drawings, blue prints and customer specifications as well as the ability to follow written and verbal direction to follow through given task to completion.
•Use of mathematics, geometry, measurements and spatial understanding in order to properly assemble projects
•Reviews mechanical drawings and verifies components and bus size are correct per drawings prior to installation and ensures quality of materials used during assembly process
•Completes all aspects of installation of Bus and related components (main bus supports, bus bar, post insulators, support brackets, bus barriers, bus boots, etc) and torques bolts to proper foot pounds depending on size and type of bolts.
•Disassembles bus bar in preparation for splitting gear for shipment when required.
•Assists in general housekeeping of work area.
•Cross trains within the bus department for bus taper, bus coater, bus fabricator, and potential transformer fabrication and installation.
•Ability to work in a team environment, has strong communications skills and demonstrates accountability
•Ability to use hand and power tools
•The ability to read a tape measure to 1/32th”
•Focuses on quality, customer service, safety, productivity
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance, additional weight with team assistance or other lift assistance.
•Must be willing to work overtime as required, including weekends.

Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent from an accredited institution
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
• At this time, relocation assistance is not available for this position. Only candidates in the immediate geographic area (60 mile radius) will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience using various hand and power tools, including: manual/electric/pneumatic tools, , template/fixtures, hand carts, measuring equipment, storage/packaging materials and prescribed safety equipment
• Strong history of work performance, team work and attendance
• Good understanding of blueprints/schematics
• Experience in reading mechanical drawings and working with electrical equipment
