Position: Graduate Civil / Structural Engineer
Location: Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire (Open to considering candidates across the UK with a relocation package included)

ROLE:
To strengthen the design team in the Northamptonshire office they require a Graduate Civil or Structural Engineer preferably with previous experience in structural design. The successful candidate will be involved with the conceptual and detailed design of construction engineering schemes, temporary works and specialist equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Conceptual and detailed design of construction methods and temporary structures, particularly in steel.
b) Outline and detailed design of specialist equipment, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects.
c) Erection engineering.
d) Permanent works design
e) Independent checking of permanent works designs and erection schemes
f) Static and dynamic analyses of structures using structural analysis (FEA) computer programs (STAAD Pro and LUSAS).
g) Prepare detailed calculations using Microsoft Excel, and prepare sketches and drawings using Autodesk AutoCad and / or Inventor.
h) Develop standard spreadsheet solutions suitable for use with Microsoft Excel.
i) Prepare project design statements and designer’s risk assessments.
j) Provide engineering support to construction sites, and provide engineering support for the manufacture of equipment.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Educated to degree level or equivalent in a civil or structural engineering discipline. For applicants who have not attained chartered status they operate an Institution of Civil Engineers approved training scheme.
b) Experience in structural analysis and design and/or site experience in steelwork.
c) Good general IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail systems).
d) Strong presentation and communications skills.
DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Understanding in design of temporary works, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects.
b) Use of computer drafting programs (Autodesk AutoCad and / or Inventor).
c) Use of structural analysis programs (STAAD Pro and LUSAS).
