Programme Support Worker - Working directly with Young People
Graduate job London, United Kingdom
Job description
Can you make a difference to a young person’s life?
Do you have experience of dealing with young people with challenging behaviour? Do you have a genuine interest in understanding the psychological and social difficulties experienced by young people in care? Are you able to demonstrate empathy? Are you willing to learn new skills and able to work in a physically and mentally challenging environment?
If the answer is yes then you could be one of the special individuals KPMS needs to join our team as a Programme Support Worker.
KPMS offers a truly innovative specialist environment to supporting young people (aged 16-21 year old), often with a complex welfare history. We aim to prepare young people to lead successful independent lives, by building their self confidence, providing them with emotional and practical support and by helping them gain essential life skills. This is achieved through the consistent delivery of our Independence Programme.
We have a unique case management model based on a Systemic Therapeutic approach and our long term vision is to change the way young people in care are looked after and through our links with a local charity we look to standardise our model throughout the UK. If you share this vision and would genuinely like to make a difference join our team.
Join us as a Programme Support Worker and you will receive training, supervision and support to develop professionally and further your career.
You will be involved in delivering planned support, group and individual work with young people.
In addition to this you will be responsible for:
- safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our young people
- producing appropriate reports including recommendation to colleagues and Case Managers and following their guidance
- working in line with KPMS Policies and Procedures, correctly managing inappropriate and challenging behaviour, making appropriate judgements and decisions to minimise risks
You are required to have a minimum of 6 months direct experience of working with young people and it is essential that you have an enhanced DBS, references, are IT literate and are able to work evenings, nights and weekends.
If you have an enthusiasm for working with this client group, as well as emotional resilience and would like to help us achieve our vision we look forward to receiving your application.
KPMS believes that safeguarding children and young people is everyone’s responsibility and must be reflected in every aspect of our work. The welfare of every child or young person in contact with the organisation remains our priority at all times and KPMS expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We are looking especially for candidates who can start immediately, so a current DBS is essential.
