They are now offering an exciting new opportunity for an entry/graduate level Laboratory Technician to join their team and, with the benefit of on-going training and support, play an important part in their ongoing success story.

GRADUATE LABORATORY TECHNICIAN – CERAMICS MANUFACTURING R&D

SALARY: £20,000 to £22,000, plus quarterly bonus and benefits, including pension and family healthcare.

LOCATION: Based at Head Office located between Blackburn and Darwen, Lancashire, you must already be living within easy commuting distance, including: Darwen, Blackburn, Bolton, Bradford, Huddersfield, Burnley, Preston, Manchester, Liverpool

HOURS: 40 Hours per week between 8.00 and 5.00 Monday to Thursday and 8.00 to 2.00 on Friday.

Working as part of the technical team, based from the company’s new on-site lab facility in Darwen, you will play an important part in the drive to improve research and development, overseeing quality control regimes, monitoring trends, and coordinate improvement initiatives through production trials, process review and by undertaking research and development studies on materials.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

* Carrying out R & D projects to improve understanding of materials.

* Maintaining and monitoring quality control testing and results.

* Performing production trials

* Communicating with shop floor operatives to develop quality awareness of production processes and end product.

* Offering technical advice within the manufacturing process.

* Communicating with suppliers on quality related issues.

* Assisting in the maintenance of ISO9001 quality management system.

* Assisting with duties within the Technical Department

This opportunity offers a huge amount of learning and development potential, and would therefore suit a recent or raw graduate / graduate trainee with a materials science or related scientific degree (possibly ceramic engineering), looking to build on their academic background to develop their career.

You will have an investigative mind, someone who is eager to learn and who relishes the challenge of research and development, gaining an in-depth understanding of the manufacturing / production process, and who can become an ‘expert’ in their field.

You will have a methodical and precise approach to your work, good analytical and technical skills, the ability to work on your own initiative, and the communication skills necessary to deal professionally with suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
