Join our Offshore Operations business as a Wind Farm Technician, and you’ll be playing a central role in the future of sustainable energy – and in our objective of making energy cleaner and better wherever we operate.
Your role is about helping us to deliver high availability of our wind farms, as well as making sure we achieve our high standards of health, safety and environmental management. It will be down to you to work closely with the turbine manufacture to carry out maintenance and repair work on our offshore assets that's maintaining 116 turbines supplied by MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, you will also work on our other onshore and offshore assets and on occasion support our other offshore sites around Europe.
You’ll be proactive in your approach to avoid any breakdowns or failures, and you’ll have plenty of ideas about how we can develop new and improved field procedures and best practices.
Responsibilities:

Carryout maintenance and servicing of wind turbines and balance of plant, including servicing, reactive and proactive maintenance, inspections, modifications, retrofits and main component exchanges.

Work in a small team with minimal supervision.
·
Work proactively and flexibly to minimise failures and maximise the Energy Yield.
·
Utilise SCADA systems and other computer based systems to interrogate turbines, to reset faults, to instigate maintenance activities and build up a fault/failure histories.
·
Be prepared to have a flexible approach to working hours around the weather and workload, to be on call outside normal working hours and flexible to travel to other sites within the fleet.
·
Preparation of work plans and documentation within SAP.
·
Maintain maintenance records, electronic and paper, of all work performed on plant.
·
Proactively assist in all areas of site operations, working on projects, spares and other non routine works.

Enact a number of roles under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules;
·
Authorised Technician
·
Competent Technician
·
Operational Controller
·
Engage in the development of new, improved field procedures and activities and best practices, this will include assisting with writing Operational Procedures, Method Statements, Work Instructions, Approved Written Procedures.

Proactively identify & take ownership of tasks or projects to improve safety, turbine performance or general working.
Desired profile
Qualifications
Essential
· You will have a full apprenticeship in a mechanical or electrical discipline qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and have maintenance experience of electrical/mechanical/rotating assets
· A good understanding of fundamental mechanical or electrical principles, trouble-shooting and maintenance, and relevant qualifications.
· The ability to fault find on complex electrical / mechanical systems.
· An aptitude for working at height in an offshore environment
· A Full UK Driving Licence.
· Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
· A sound understanding of safe systems of work, to establish a safe working environment
It is important that you are willing to work in a team environment and flexible, to work on a 7 day shift system and travel for a training programme. The training runs for approximately one year and includes visits to our offshore wind farms in the UK and around Europe.
Desirable
· Demonstrable experience of working on Vestas Wind Turbines as a Wind Turbine Technician.
· Senior Authorised Person for High Voltage switching
Additional Information
This is a permanent role
In addition to basic salary you will qualify for a disturbance allowance to reflect the shift pattern worked and the flexible nature of offshore working
The current role will be based at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm
Due to the nature of this role a DBS (The disclosure and barring service) check will be required
