f you’re passionate about engineering with great manual dexterity and a strong desire to learn, this is a fantastic opportunity to move into the growing smart metering industry. We’re investing in this part of our business in a big way – Smart meters provide higher levels of accuracy and they give customers much more control over their energy usage, helping them to save money and reduce their carbon footprint. Our goal is to install 8 million of these meters by 2020. That’s why we’re creating one of the biggest – and most advanced – field operation teams in the UK. You could be part of it.
When you first start, you’ll undertake a training programme lasting for 10-12 weeks and incorporating a mix of classes at our first-class training facilities in West Midlands. You’ll also work in the field with a Smart metering mentor in your home area as you work your way towards single-phase qualification electric meter fixer level. From there, we’ll support you in achieving the dual fuel phase qualification in gas and electricity. You’ll be able to
learn and at each stage of your journey, your salary will increase and as a result you’ll be the opportunity to join our on-call rota giving you the chance to earn additional income.
Across everything you do, you’ll go above and beyond to deliver a great customer experience – we pride ourselves on providing the very best in electricity and gas metering services. That means being tidy and considerate as you work as well as understanding and reassuring customers who have concerns. To support you, we’ll make sure you have everything you need to provide an outstanding, safety-led service that leaves every customer happy. Think the very latest technology, impressive training and development, and your own mobile phone and van.
Because you’ll be visiting residential and commercial properties to carry out both installations and repairs, every day will be different. You’ll also find that we offer excellent opportunities for career progression – lots of our technicians go on to become team leaders as well as developing new specialist skills with us. On top of that, you can look forward to the kind of wide-reaching benefits package you’d expect from a company that firmly believes the happier you are, the happier our customers will be.
