Technical Engineering Trainees - Smart Meter (Asset & Logistics Trainees)
Permanent
Starting salary £21,700 rising to £28,164
Based: Wednesbury, West Midlands
These definitely aren’t your average traineeships. Because while they offer the usual mix of on-the-job experience, great training and ongoing support, they also offer something else – the chance to be at the forefront of some really exciting technology initiatives that are happening here at E.ON. Not only that, but if you show us you have the right potential, this could be a stepping stone into a management role with us.
Smart metering is a really important part of our business and we’re undertaking a lot of research to look at how we can use smart technology in all sorts of innovative new ways, such as room-by-room control and payments via your mobile. To help us achieve our ambitions, we’re looking to build a pipeline of experts – and that all starts with you.
About the traineeship
Your first year will be spent getting to know our Smart business in general. Then, in your second year, you’ll be working alongside specialists to gain knowledge in electricity metering, gas metering or telecommunications, which is a brand new area for us. Here, you’ll be focused on the telecoms that join home area networks with our back office systems.
We’ll offer you the chance to earn as you learn – you’ll get an annual salary and you’ll be training with qualified technical experts. Along the way you’ll pick up a valuable HNC BTEC Level 4 in Electrical and Electronics through day release and if you don’t have a full driving licence already we’ll even support you to learn to drive.
We’ll make sure you visit different parts of the business too, so you can get a solid grounding in how things work here. And of course, you’ll get lots of specific hands-on experience, from testing and programming smart meters to carrying out failure investigations on removed meters and undertaking fault investigations. Put simply, this traineeship will give you everything you need to become one of our smart meter asset and system experts – and to lead us into a smarter future.
