· To assist LV Cable Jointer with unmetered connections to DNO/ IDNO networks.
· To drive and operative specialist.
· To provide joint holes and prepare cables for jointing.
· Driving general and specialist company vehicles appropriate to the role.
· Cleaning, checking and maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles associated with the role.
· Carrying out risk assessments on site.

We operate one of the largest streetlight contracting businesses in the UK, with a large presence in the Midlands and the North West. As well as providing new installations for most of the UK's housing developers, we also work for the majority of the local authorities in our areas. We're not stopping there though: we're now implementing a major new initiative to expand the operation. As part of it, we're looking for enthusiastic, hard-working Jointers Mates to join our team.
Organised and efficient, you'll be working with an LV Jointer, helping install LV services to streetlights and other highway assets, as well some domestic properties. You'll also be assisting with general site work where necessary. Safety is our priority in all these activities, so as well as being first aid qualified, it's essential you have experience of assessing risks and working according to strict safety guidelines.
It's an outdoor role that will often be physically demanding, so it's vital you're trained for it. That means you'll need to be qualified as a Jointers Mate, ideally under NERS. It's also vital you're authorised to work on at least one UK DNO network, ideally Electricity North West. Previous experience of the street lighting industry, including operating machinery and working on the highway would be an advantage.

Essential skill requirements
• Have completed a formal Jointers Mates training course and hold a current DNO as well as an NRSWA card.
• Clear understanding of the safety precautions for working near live LV cables and in the vicinity of DNO equipment.
• Demonstrable ability to use an Insulation Resistance Tester and to ExoCheck cables for volts, polarity, phase rotation & earth loop impedance.
• Manual handling certified.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable skill requirements
• Proven experience with CAT and Genny equipment.
• A background working in the vicinity of underground services (G39 Regs).
• Ability to drive 3.5 – 7.5 tonnes.
