Model Based Definition Lead (Oil & Gas)
Location: Aberdeen (preferred), Bristol
Role Summary:
The role is responsible for implementing Virtual / Digital Validation, Model Based Definition and BOM structuring, as part of the MBM (Model based Manufacturing) and MBE (Model Based Enterprise Initiative. The candidate should have a strong Engineering background, extensive experience in Virtual / Digital Validation and imagination to drive innovation in the Model Based Enterprise space to create significant business impact and competitive advantage.
Responsibilities:
Working with a multidisciplinary team across the Subsea Systems business, support/develop strategic technology roadmaps in MBD / MBE. Implement these roadmaps to bring about significant business impact and competitive advantage.
- Develop technical methods and strategy for moving towards 3D Model as a Master and Virtual Validation. Lead the team in conducting (in CREO / PDMLink):
- Clearance & Interference Analysis/ Checks;
- Tolerance Stack-ups;
- Mechanism & Collision checks;
- Digital Mockups;
- Creating fully featured 3D Models with
- eGD&T, Datums & PMI
- Materials & Specs
- Develop & Drive strategies to improve 3D modekl quality and the use of CAD and PLM tools by leveraging newer functionalities and features in MBM, Digital validation and BOM structuring and CSD-Part BOM synchronization.
- Define the technical content of the MBD plan and work with Business Leader/s and Corporate/HQ leaders to jointly develop an overall roadmap and execution plan for Subsea Systems.
- Supervise the existing MBD technical staff (GE internal & contract / third party suppliers/consultants).
- Develop training material and be responsible for delivering the training in conjunction with third party trainers. (MBD features, virtual validation and BOM structuring).
- Work closely with PTC to ensure that the technology supports our requirements and project manage any tool/application (CREO/CAD) enhancements
- Provide project management support for MBD projects across the Subsea Systems businesses.
- Conduct daily reviews, capture metrics and KPI
- Support issue resolution in related to critical path, schedule, project execution and escalation
- Provide inputs to develop and maintain MBM policies and procedures.
- Promote and ensure adoption of policies and procedures globally.
- Support CAD integration initiative as part of O&G MBD strategy
- Interface with Manufacturing and other downstream functions to drive effective integration of CAD-CAM
- Support advance manufacturing initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Technical degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Virtual / Digital Validation and Model Based Definition / Model Based Enterprise (MBD/MBE).
- Hands on proficiency in use of PTC CREO CAD
- Strong technical proven experience in Engineering and Manufacturing
- Significant knowledge of processes related to product definition MBE, MBD, CAD to CAM integration
- Good understanding and hands on experience of
- GD&T requirements and Product Manufacturing Information (PMI)
- Clearance & Interference Analysis/ Checks;
- Tolerance Stack-ups;
- Mechanism & Collision checks;
- Digital Mockups;
- Understanding and experience in deploying Model centric approach
- Experience of developing Design Templates, Design Libraries & Standard Work
- Sound project management practice with global teams

- Ability to articulate and resolve global level modeling issues.
- Strong working knowledge of dimensioning and tolerance per ANSI Y14.5
