Context
This Project Scientist role is within the Liquid Commercialisation Team (LCT), part of the Science and Technology Team of International Supply Centre (ISC). The role of LCT is to provide direction and leadership for all liquid aspects of the commercialisation process for “New to World” and other liquids.

The primary purpose of the role is to deliver added value against prioritised business objectives through effective project management by developing formulations and procedures for full scale production of new liquids.

Success is achieved by ruthless focus on delivery on time, to cost target and on compliance at our own and 3rd party production sites.

Role activities include:

·  Converting concept liquids and/or written briefs to fully commercial products.
·  Key requirements include excellent lab skills and sensory ability; good people skills; understanding of production site constraints and capabilities; ability to visualise the best method of manufacture; understanding technological aspects of ingredients and final liquid, including all aspects of product stability, including sensory, chemical, physical and, where appropriate, microbiological. Working closely with ingredient and flavour suppliers and ISC regulatory team to ensure product compliance in both country of manufacture and country of sale, including label claims
·  Building effective partnerships with other Diageo innovation and technical functions, in, e.g., the Americas, APAC, and with Diageo and 3rd party production sites
·  Maintaining great customer relationships with ISC, Brand Teams, Suppliers, Market functions to support launches and roll outs Top Accountabilities

·  Deliver improved value by improving formulation, processes, technology or practices
·  Maintain existing business relationships and create new ones to ensure excellent service levels to all customers

·  Clearly understand and apply relevant sensory and analytical techniques Qualifications and Experience
Essential

·  Tertiary qualifications in a scientific and/or engineering discipline relating to the role
·  Professional qualifications in relevant field (Certifications in Sensory, chemical analysis of food or beverage, and/or Consumer Science)
·  Specialist skills in potable beverage production, sensory assessment or laboratory analysis.
·  Knowledge of the science and technology of potable liquids and ingredients;
·  Experience in the detection and the prevention of liquid counterfeiting; source identification, and developing counterfeiting counter measures are essential to this role.
·  The successful candidate must be able and willing to travel and work within international markets
·  Experience in working within production environments Desirable

·  Knowledge of Diageo's products and processes and/or related food and beverage manufacturing;
·  Experience in change and project management;
·  Understanding customer and business needs;
·  Experience in working effectively with different cultures and nationalities; and
·  Good communication and interpersonal skills
