Heritage is recognised as a vital growth driver for many of Diageo's brands. The Guinness Archive at Guinness Storehouse, Ireland's No. 1 visitor attraction, plays an integral role in protecting and managing the history and heritage of the GUINNESS brand and Diageo beer brands in Ireland.
The Guinness Archive was established in 1998 to preserve, catalogue and make accessible the heritage of the GUINNESS brand to internal and external users. The Archive holds the 1759 lease, the foundation document of the brand, and over 7,000 linear metres of paper material, over 10,000 photographs, 1,000 items of film/ video, a large advertising collection and a large artefact collection
The Guinness Archive is the only corporate Archive open to the public in Ireland and is located in Guinness Storehouse the Home of Guinness, authenticating the visitor experience, and acts as the public face for all historical enquiries from the Guinness Storehouse audience.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self motivated young professional to apply for our annual Archive internship position.
You will be a graduate or about to graduate and intending to continue your studies on one of the post-graduate archive/records management courses. The position will start mid-end August and will run for one year.
The nature of the work will be varied, involving cataloguing, answering enquiries, research room supervision, managing genealogical enquiries, basic preservation & conservation, opportunity to shadow the Archivists. The Guinness Archive dates back to 1759 and encompasses all aspects of the global brand. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their archive skills in a supportive environment. Full training will be given in all aspects of the role.
What you will need:
· Preferably educated to Masters degree in a related discipline
· Attention to detail is a key quality
· A proven track record in research
· IT proficient including digital technology
· Excellent time management skills
· Ability to work as part of a team and on own
· Display evidence of pursuing a professional career in Archives
· Display strong communication and people skills
· A commitment to completing the 12 month internship
· Knowledge/interest in Guinness or a similar corporate organisation
