…. lies just 15 miles from the capital in rolling East Lothian countryside, known as the home of The Edinburgh Malt. One of the few Lowland distilleries open to the public, Glenkinchie started legally (!) in 1837 by farming brothers John & George Rate. Glenkinchie is a thriving visitor centre with 40,000+ visitors annually.

The Role
A Distillery Visitor Centre Guide is a customer-facing role within the visitor centre, representing the brand and the company. As an integral part of the visitor centre team, the DVC Guide will deliver high standards of customer service and an exceptional and memorable visitor experience.
Expectations of the role will include:
· Carrying out guided tours and tutored nosings & tastings (training will be provided)
· Advising and upselling on ticket and product sales
· Shop duties incl. till operations, shelf stocking and assisting with deliveries and stocktakes
· Meeting & greeting visitors
· Hospitality duties incl. basic food/drink preparation
· Cleaning and general upkeep of the visitor centre
· Carry out site compliance checks, as required
· Attendance at internal meetings when required
· Work on personal development to expand own knowledge and achieve company goals
· Attendance at external events and assisting in local marketing activities, when required
· Flexible for temporary cover at other Diageo sites across Scotland
Qualifications and Experience Required
First and foremost, we are looking for somebody who is truly passionate about what they do and the drinks industry.
They must be able to work on their own initiative, be self-motivated and flexible in their approach. They need to have the skills to be able to deal / react with situations as they arise when dealing with the public.
Although there are no specific qualifications required, to be successful in this role, you will need the following experiences:
ESSENTIAL
· Driving Licence with access to car (no public transport)
· Strong Interpersonal/communication skills
· Experience of working within an effective team
· Presentable and trustworthy qualities
· IT literate (incl. Microsoft Office)
· Good numeracy skills
· Fluent in written and spoken English
· Experience with evening/weekend/public holiday working
DESIRABLE
· Customer Service / Retail
· Whisky knowledge/interest (full training will be provided)
· Foreign languages
· First Aid qualification (full training will be provided)
