The Program – IT Graduate

The DHL IT Traineeship / Graduate Program is a 24-month structured program. As an IT graduate, in 4 placements of 6 months you will work towards becoming an IT system expert:

* Starting in a warehouse environment as a system key user you will lay the basis for your career through getting hands-on experience on warehousing and logistics operations, IT systems, incident and change management and improvement initiatives.
* In two fast-track placements as a technical implementer in the IT department you learn to set up our strategic IT systems, including industry-leading Warehouse and Transport Management Systems. In a first placement we introduce you to the IT templates and you will be involved in basic configuration, test work and solution documentation.
* In an intermediate placement as junior engineer within Operations Excellence you will learn about our standardized processes and our approach to logistics solution design. Depending on the work at hand, you will conduct requirements analyses, work on logistics solution proposals and contribute to operational improvement initiatives; experience that will prove invaluable when implementing logistics IT systems.
* In a second placement in the IT department you will further deepen your knowledge on DHL’s strategic IT systems and dive into advanced system configuration in order to become (depending on your progress) a subject-matter expert in logistics IT systems.

* The ability to learn from experts in the logistics IT field (requirements elicitation, WMS configuration, mapping specifications, SQL/MOCA, etc.);
* On-the-job training and early involvement in important system implementations and change requests; 

The Program – Industrial Engineer graduate

The DHL Operations Excellence Traineeship / Graduate Program is a 24-month structured program. As an Industrial Engineer graduate, in 4 placements of 6 months you will work towards becoming one of the experts in Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing for DHL Supply chain Benelux.

Starting in a warehouse environment as a system key user you will lay the basis for your career through getting hands-on experience on warehousing and logistics operations, IT systems, incident and change management and improvement initiatives.

* In two fast-track placements as a Industrial Engineering in the BNL engineering department (OMM-CI) you learn our standardized processes and engineering methodologies and advanced expertise in industrial engineering to improve our logistics to the maximum level of efficiency and effectiveness.
* In a first placement we introduce you to the fundaments of logistics Engineering. You will be involved in local engineering projects, business cases and process analysis. During this period you will be introduced to warehouse design principles and be trained in activity based costing and process improvement methodologies (six sigma/lean).
* In an intermediate placement as a junior Information Analyst you will learn about our standard IT platform, the system logics, IT templates and you will be involved in basic configuration, test work and solution documentation.
* In a second placement in the Ops Excellence OMM-CI department you will further deepen your engineering expertise with advanced industry standards, lean design & control principles, standardized work, time and motion studies, training within industry, to become (depending on your progress) one of the experts in industrial engineers within DHL.  

As an Industrial Engineer graduate you will be provided with a diverse range of development opportunities to help achieve your career and personal goals including:

* A challenging combination of roles in Operations, IT and Engineering;
* Early responsibility and fast progression into an expert engineering role;
* Experience of working within fast-paced environments;
* A framework of personal development modules focusing on analytical, problem analyses, requirement analyses and soft skills, together with regular performance feedback, personal development planning and a dedicated mentor within DHL;
* The ability to learn from experts in the logistics engineering field (six sigma black belts, automation and mechanisation experts, project engineers and solution designers);
* On-the-job training and early involvement in important system implementations and change requests; 

Requirements of the roles

We recruit fast-learning young potentials who are visionary, can take initiative and are constantly looking for improvements in their area. This translates in the following skills and competences:

* Bachelor or Master degree in IT, Engineering, Business Economics or a related (quantitative) discipline; or relevant experience.
* Bi-lingual in Dutch and English. French is an advantage.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of system design and/or programming languages is an advantage(specifically for the IT graduate).
* Strong interest in logistics systems and willingness to work in operational logistics environments.
* Fast, self-learner with hands-on mind-set and “can do” attitude.
* Ability to work independently in a high-pressure demanding environment.
* Customer-focused
* Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
* Ability to build relationships and work well as part of a team
* Willingness and capability to handle difficult situations, with a strong sense of responsibility
* Flexibility and mobility to move between DHL sites within the Benelux (most of our DHL sites are located in the South of the Netherlands and in the northern part of Belgium), with possibly occasional travel outside Benelux
* Must have a current driving licence and access to own car
