Primary purpose of role
Responsibility for efficient transportation and delivery of products to customers using a commercial motor vehicle meeting company, customer and legislative requirements.
Key Accountabilities
Follow customer specific procedures
Maintain regular contact with Transport team
Count and check all products, compare to manifest and complete a visual check for damage
To report any defect as soon as reasonably practicable using the defect reporting procedures.
Report any excesses, shortages or damage to supervisor in a timely manner
Secure loads effectively and ensure loads are within the weight limits
To assist with site shunting when required and taking vehicles and trailers to service as necessary
Complete routine vehicle checks
Ensure vehicle is kept clean and tidy internally and externally
To follow all current company and site rules and regulations
Comply with appropriate working time legislation and EU tachograph regulations
Desired profile
Qualifications
Essential
Valid Driver's licence for class of vehicle to be driven
Valid Hazardous Goods licence (where appropriate to role)
Valid Medical (where appropriate)
Driver CPC
Skills/Experiences
Essential
At least 2 years’ experience driving heavy goods vehicles.
Knowledge of geographical area
Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules
Ability to read, understand and follow directions/instructions
Ability to count accurately and to perform simple mathematical calculations
Have appropriate hand, eye and foot co-ordination to effectively use mechanical handling equipment
Ability to move product which may require bending, stretching, stooping, stepping, reaching and/or lifting, in line with Health & Safety regulations
