Research assistants (m/f)

  • Unbefristeter vertrag
  • Frankfurt (Darmstadt)

Job description

As one of the world's largest central banks, the Deutsche Bundesbank works in the public interest. Our core business areas are monetary policy, banking supervision, financial stability, cash management and payment systems.
The Deutsche Bundesbank is looking to recruit several part-time (50%) research assistants, initially on a two-year contract, to work in the Research Centre at our Central Office in Frankfurt am Main.
Research assistants (m/f)
The Research Centre forges a link between the Deutsche Bundesbank's practical work and academic theory. Our staff conduct research into economic topics and issues in the areas of banking supervision, financial stability and risk modelling.
What the job entails
Your role will be to provide academic support to Research Centre staff in areas such as empirical and structural macroeconomics, banking and finance or macroeconomic forecasting.
Working in an international team, you will contribute to the Deutsche Bundesbank's decision-making process by providing insights into fundamental issues based on academic research. In your work, you will have access to an excellent IT and data infrastructure and have contact with leading international academics.
What we need from you

  • University degree, accredited Master's degree or equivalent qualification in a degree programme with a quantitative focus (eg economics or statistics) with above-average results or enrolment in a PhD programme
  • Sound knowledge of empirical methods
  • Experience using mathematical/statistical applications such as Matlab, R, Ox, Gauss or Stata
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Fortran, S, CUDA or similar would be an advantage
  • Good knowledge of data services such as Bloomberg, Datastream or Haver would be an advantage
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
What we have to offer
Besides a unique set of tasks, we offer you attractive employment conditions. And if you are considering or are already pursuing a doctoral degree, there are many different ways in which we can support you. We also promote a healthy balance between work and family life.
We would like to increase the proportion of female staff at the Deutsche Bundesbank and would therefore welcome applications from women with the appropriate qualifications. Part-time work is generally possible. Where candidates are equally qualified for the position, preference will be given to applicants with a disability.
If you have any questions, please contact Malte Knüppel (+49 69 9566 2324) or Guido Schultefrankenfeld (+49 69 9566 8727) from the Research Centre or Kerstin Müller (+49 69 9566 8433) from the Human Resources Department.
We look forward to receiving your online application and supporting documentation (cover letter, CV, testimonials) by 4 April 2016, quoting the reference number 2016_0148_02_homepage. Alternatively you can send your application to ************@*******.**
