Position summary

Want to work side by side with industry leading consultants? This summer, take your professional development to the next level when you join our Strategy & Operations practice’spublic sector team. As a MPA/MPP Summer Associate, you’ll work directly on client projects and help our consultants develop and implementleading-edge business analytics and strategic frameworks to services at the local, state, and federal levels. During this learning experience, you’ll work with a team of diverse and talented professionals and apply your MPA/MPP degree knowledge to real-world client issues.
 
Work you’ll do
As an MPA/MPP Summer Associate working in our public sector practice, you’ll be part of a collaborative team environment that helps public and not-for-profit clients find solutions to some of their most critical operational challenges. You’ll use your analytical and creative thinking skills to help team members design systems and strategies that anticipate and respond effectively to complex and dynamic environments. You’ll also help clients see the big picture, plan their day-to-day operations and learn to develop ways to manage operations, measure performance, and analyze data to help clients achieve their organizational objectives.
 
The team
Our Strategy & Operations practice’s Public Sector consultants specialize in defense and intelligence, finance and administration, health and human services, homeland security, law and justice, and transportations services. Our team of experienced and strategic thought-leaders works collaboratively to provide objective advice and innovative solutions to public and not-for-profit sector clients. Desired profile

Qualifications
Required:
·  Enrollment as a first-year MPA or MPP graduate student
·  Strong academic performance (GPA of 3.5 or higher)
·  Experience prioritizing tasks and working on multiple assignments in a team environment
·  Demonstrated interest and firm grounding in public sector issues
·  Willingness to travel
·  U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance (Federal Practice candidates only)
 
How you’ll grow
Throughout the course of the internship program, you’ll receive formal and informal mentorship and training.  Our MPA/MPP Summer Associate training program provides a view both into the technical skills as well as critical professional behaviors, standards, and mindsets tohelp you expand on your previous experience, knowledge and skillsand make the most of your internship experience. The program includes a variety of team-based hands-on exercises and activities. Beyond the formal training, you will work with talented tax professionals and have the opportunity to ask questions and gain valuable hands-on experience while working on client engagements.
