Storage Engineer - Remote opportunity in Chicago, IL area with 75% travel

The Dell Global Information Delivery Services team Storage Engineer is a regionally based server, storage, and networking consultant/engineer who support Dell's enterprise clients. This role is responsible for on-site installation, implementation, maintenance and repair of Dell | SANs, DAS, NAS, Dell Compellent and EqualLogic arrays, Dell PowerVault Storage, Dell PowerEdge, and various custom enterprise solutions.

This position will be remote based, meaning the individual will work onsite at our client sites nationwide. When not at a client site, the individual will work from their home office. The hire should live in the metro area or commutable region of the market supported. Up to 75% travel to client sites within this region, and/or nationally as needed, will be required.

The hire should understand and be able to communicate technical and business issues with customers, account teams and other internal partners. The candidate must operate comfortably in a remote, self directed, high availability or mission critical environment. Candidate will also provide Dell's onsite service leadership during difficult customer situations. A strong commitment to delivering engagements while providing a superior customer experience is imperative.

Role Responsibilities
- Travel is generally within their local market/state but can be regional as needed.
- Perform heterogeneous SAN, DAS, and NAS deployments
- Plan, install and troubleshoot SANs, DAS, and NAS solutions
- Install and troubleshoot advanced enterprise software (ex. Snapview/Mirrorview, Commvault, Netbackup, Replication Manager, etc.)
- Backup production readiness (TBU software install/config)
- Perform SAN, DAS, and NAS upgrades (heterogeneous, layered apps)
- Perform DAE/host adds (Windows and non-Windows)
- Perform data migration
- Perform fibre and network switch add/zoning
- Handle escalated break/fix troubleshooting
- Perform SAN, DAS, and NAS maintenance

Desired profile

Requirements
- Undergraduate degree and 4+ years, or Graduate degree and 2+ years of experience in servicing/deploying enterprise equipment
- Develop and maintain positive, long-standing customer relationships built on trust.
- In depth knowledge of internal service processes and service offerings and ability to articulate these to customers.
- Exhibit a flexible schedule to react to customer needs 24x7.
- Relevant Operating Systems Certifications:
* MCP, MCSE, CNE, RHCE/T, VCP, Linux
- Relevant Storage Certifications
* Compellent or other vendor certifications (Veritas, Commvault, NetApp, IBM, Hitachi, etc)
- Relevant Interconnect (Fibre/Networking) certifications
* CCNA/P, BCFP, SNIA, Server+ or Network+, etc
