LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

This position will allow the team member to gain insight to the workings of factory planning and engineering processes. This internship will expose the team member to all levels in the organization to assist in building a resume that will allow the team member to become competitive in the job market.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project Management Intern provides the best possible support by assisting with all aspects of project management regarding factory planning and engineering and helping to ensure that the ongoing plant expansion project runs smoothly.

Responsibilities:

·  Improve transparency of project-related action items

·  Cost analysis

·  Process documentation

·  Change Management

·  Optimize daily processes with new ideas

·  Overview and updated detailed schedule

·  Develop and track useful KPIs

·  Coordinate project steps with plant operations

·  Prepare presentations and status updates

·  Reading and interpretation of drawings.

·  Competent contact with external business partners

·  Support bidding processes

·  Training and experience in core area of study

·  Assist where needed by the department or other areas

·  Assist and lead meetings

Location information

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) is part of the division Mercedes-Benz Vans of Daimler AG, Germany. It is a plant in South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner, with headquarters in Charleston, SC. The midsize Metris van was added to the assembly line in 2015.

Mercedes-Benz Vans announced in March 2015 that it will invest $500 million in construction of a new Sprinter production plant, in addition to an expansion of existing assembly operations. The new facility will be also located in Charleston, and will provide up to 1,300 jobs.

More than 130,000 Sprinter have been assembled in Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the third largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany and the U.K.
