Tasks
Responsibilities:
• Implementation of engineering assignments from start of project until final release
• Develop existing production equipment and applications as required
• Optimization of production processes and implementation of ongoing projects (KVP, MPS, Prolog, ergonomic)
• Support all other departments that are in collaboration with Engineering in reference to new products and projects
• Optimization of existing production processes/- assembly production line site Charleston, USA.
• Planning and development of new equipment including evaluation, procurement and commissioning. These projects will be in collaboration with internal and external suppliers
• Detection and transfer of innovative production processes and technologies.
• Collaboration with internal Daimler partners, specifically with Engineering teams from Daimler worldwide VAN division
• Flexibility is a requirement due to daily challenges driven by team goals and production relevant factors, (man, machine, material). The ability to “think outside of the box” when evaluating, discussing and implementing projects effecting cost targets, time schedule, quality is a plus
• Acquire familiarity of the Daimler standard applications (MTM, C-values, Rasant, DPE, R-Plan)
• Constantly working towards reduction of the product and environmental costs
• Utilization and application of Daimler standard digital planning tools (ENG Client, Faplis)
Main Challenges:
• Implement adjustments or modify technical solutions/methods on the assembly line.
• Technical discussion with suppliers on ENG level
• Ensure the technical line capacity and equipment availability for the serial assembly process
• Support the daily production as required
• Continuously strive to improve standard KPI values
· Application of complex computer systems
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Bachelor/Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or other automotive related fields or comparable qualifications
• Professional skills/competence in Engineering specifically assembly/finish, production technology, automotive technology, mechanical
• German language knowledge would be an advantage
• Ability to work closely in a team environment

Location information
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) is part of the division Mercedes-Benz Vans of Daimler AG, Germany. It is a plant in South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner, with headquarters in Charleston, SC. The midsize Metris van was added to the assembly line in 2015.
Mercedes-Benz Vans announced in March 2015 that it will invest $500 million in construction of a new Sprinter production plant, in addition to an expansion of existing assembly operations. The new facility will be also located in Charleston, and will provide up to 1,300 jobs.
More than 130,000 Sprinter have been assembled in Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the third largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany and the U.K.
