Financial Controller – Luxury Resort based in the Bahamas
The Financial Controller is primarily responsible to ensure viability and ultimately profitability. This is achieved through managing of controls by implementing accountability over the company’s resources in a consistent, systematic and effective manner.
The Financial Controller will provide continuous leadership in the financial area by providing Management with guidance and training in terms of:
- Focusing on the profitability of the business;
- Maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting;
- Ensuring compliance with all local and statutory regulations and the company’s policies and procedures;
- Safeguarding owners/investors assets.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A degree with accounting/finance concentration
- 3 to 4 years of relevant experience or at least 8 years of progressive experience in hotel accounting or related field.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook);
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures;
- General understanding of accounting practices and principles;
- Knowledge of financial and banking regulations;
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information;
- Knowledge of finance, budgeting, and cost control principles;
- In-depth knowledge of all accounting functions;
- Auditing skills
- Team leading abilities;
- Payroll management;
- Experience with automated accounting systems;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial files;
- Bookkeeping skills that show high levels of attention to detail;
- Professional disposition;
- Analytical and problem solving skills;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills;
- Time and stress management skills;
- Have an ability to demonstrate sound work ethics.
